I know Fred likes the shark-style side gill windows. He proved that

Just needs a 3.9...

(At 2380 pounds on 165SR15s, I suppose it would be good fun!)

What the hell happened to the 911's round lines? The design is too edgy and sharp for a 911. The interior is too futuristic and complex

I don't like it at all!

I guess I'll be getting my butt in a mkII RS in a couple of years and keep it until I fart dust out of my ***.

Here's a quick rendering.

Wow the new 911 is absolutely gorgeous.

BTW guys, the car isn't actually as big as the spy pictures portray. Nearly all of them are from a zoomed in angle, which greatly distort proportions.

Could the trapezoidal license plate cut-out have been coincidental?

Hope you are right, because it looks "Panamera" big, which to me destroys the 911 heritage.

Let's remember that even with a 100mm increase in wheelbase, the 991 still has a very short wheelbase compared to its competitors. The overhangs are also shorter, so I expect the perceived size increase will be comparable to 993-->996.

Electric power steering for one. Hard to believe it will provide the feel, feedback, and interaction of the 997, but we shall see. Folks probably voiced the same concerns when the 911 incorporated any kind of power steering for the first time. (and if you have ever driven a Lotus Elise/Exige, you will understand why)

Isn't it electric steering in the 2010 or 2011 Cup?

Does anyone know a site that defines every change in the GT3 Cup year over year?

I have no problem with electric steering, it's just the same as hydraulic so long as they get the "analog" feel. I find hydraulic power steering to be somewhat "artificial" anyway. I've been pretty much wedded to manual steering since the 964 RS America and put the same manual rack in my 993.

For the 991, I'd have no problem pulling the electric system (no doubt bulky and heavy) and putting a 964 manual steering rack in there. It's not as easy as it might sound because Porsche finally flipped the caliper to be inside the wheelbase on the fronts, so the rack now actuates ahead of the steering axis. I keep a couple of spares for the 993 ... just in case ... : )

If there's any company on the planet that will get electric power steering right, here's hoping it's Porsche.
