991 Spy shots and the Cayman is DEAD!
Saw these buzzing up-n-down the Las Vegas Strip on 22 Sep 2010
All stealthy matte black
Strange fixed rear wings, almost looked like 993 turbo wings, sort of
The turbo ducts on the C pillars were printed mylar, not real.
I walked up to a driver and asked what cars these were and he spoke something in German and smiled.
I asked if they were 991 test mules and he nodded yes.
I pointed to my chest and said 993 4S and he said, “Ahhhhhhhhh the last, the best!” in English.
The one interior I saw was very similar to a 997 with Turbo S steering wheel and flappy paddle PDK.
There were also Boxster mules in the parade, but no Caymans, so I’m going to start the rumor that Cayman development is finished.
There were a total of ~ 12 cars, 7 coupes,3 Cabs and 2 Boxsters.
Don’t these iphone photo’s suck?

I love these spy shots...but sometimes I wonder if the auto companies really want this info to be released...I mean, driving down the vegas strip...I'm sure they didn't expect anyone with a camera to be there?
free publicity for the upcoming release...

Car looks HUGE, probably larger than 4 inches.

We were in Valley of Fire north of LV a few weeks ago and saw a transport truck with an RV. The transport had a black SUV, but we didn't see any cars or people around. Never did see any obvious mules and no idea if it was connected to Porsche, but we passed a Boxster Spyder outside the park that appeared to have stickers with the little crash test type rondels on the body. It was solo, but it was very odd to see a car like that in the middle of nowhere with those types of stickers. No photo of the Boxster, but here's a photo of the transporter:

My coworker came to work last week talking about on his drive (in his 993, he's a porsche geek) in San Francisco 4 Porsches with a strange covered wing set up drove past all in matte black.
He couldn't understand what version of 911 they were. He also thought that they were a new model. I can't wait to show him these photos to see if it's the same.
Thanks for the shots.

Was at the Nürburgring last week. Often I heard the Germans say, neun, neun drei turbo - the best! They love the 993 generation of Porsche.
What I loved even more was that the Germans really used their old Porsche cars. One of the instructors had a 1972 911 2,7 RS that he used on the Nürburgring. The car belonged to his father who bought it new.
About the test mule on the picture in the first post. I saw one just like it outside the GP track at Nürburgring last week. It will be interesting to see how the final car will look like when it officially comes out on the market.
