997.2 and misc special editions will make up stop-gap 2012 lineup.
That's what I heard today from a reliable source.

Could it be Feb. 2012 in EU and then later in US?

Alexb76: You are not right. MY2011 Boxster Spyders arrived early in 2010 (late Feb/early March) at US dealers and MY2012 Cayman R's arrived weeks ago (April of 2011) at US dealers. Even MY2011 gt3 RS started arriving at US dealers before June of 2010, even though MY2010 gt3 RS only started to be delivered in US a few months earlier, in Jan/Feb of 2010. By the way, I agree with the dateline suggested by Unclejosh. I have posted the same in various threads here in Rennlist as some here believe (incorrectly) that the new 991 models will be arriving at dealers as early as September of 2011. z356 (Carmel)

Indicators are the Unclejosh is correct. Yesterday I went onto a few dealer's sites, and some are listing cars, that are NOT the "Black Edition" cars, as 2012 models.

My GTS, ordered several months ago, was going to be a 2011 MY car. The build was moved from April 29 to May 3. The car is now designated a 2012. A lucky break for me and more evidence of the abreviated 2012 MY.

model years are decided by the manufacture - not manatd by some gov't entietly.
they do have to meet *That* model years regulations however so if released in 012 as an -013' model year they ahve to meet the 013 regulations.
porsche normal changes model year in Aug/sept - but have changed it in the past and would mean only a 3-6 month gap in the 997 to 991 production.
