Interesting fake turbo intakes. First exhaust note sounded like crap, better later. Mirrors mounted on lower section of doors instead of where they are now.....

Hard to judge given all the camoflauge.
But fundamentally, what is going to be new in this car? The engine, the DFI, and PDK - is already state of the art, producing great MPG while delivering good performance. The interior has been updated and the electronics are up to date. What's going to be new in this car, other then a sheet metal retouch? OK, it could always be a little lighter and gain a little more power, but those aren't fundamental changes.

Oh well, I had to watch and listen to that video for five times, and I must say you might be right.
FACTS:
-There are three cars, registered LB FO 23, LB G 931 & LB G 874.
-From acceleration and drive-by noises intrepreted G 931 and G 874 are gasoline engined, but FO23 sounds odd. That very sick idle sound comes ( apparently ) from G 931, though.
-G 931 is fueled from green pistol, ie. gasoline. Apparently G 874 too...
-BUT for FO 23 they use another end of that meter, and another pistol too. Unfortunately that picture is too shabby for clearly see the colour of that pistol or the text from that meter. If the pistol was black, then it's definetely diesel. OTH it could just be E85, which is widely available in Sweden. Anyway they are selling diesel in every fuel station over there, the question is if they use separate meters for it. Here in Finland they do not. Just separate pistols. I think our Swedish friends could help with this by finding out that station and it's meters... That video guy was not smart enough.
Anyway a direct injected flat six turbodiesel is an interesting idea. Subaru runs a flat four, their own design.
For example BMW 335d:
2993 cm3, R6 Twin-turbo 24V , 210 kW (286 hv) @ 4400 rpm, 580 Nm @ 1750–2250 rpm.
Highway 5,9 l/100 km
City 10,3 l/100 km
Average 7,5 l/100 km
CO2 200 g/km
Porsche engineers should be able to do it even better.

I think car 1, FO 23 I guess it is, is a diesel.
I also think these cars might be test mules for something other than a flat-6 engine.

One of those sounded like our beloved "Flat Six" but...... the one pulling away sound VERY similar to a 8 Cylinder- not a diesel. To me anyways.
What if Porsche came out with a 'flat 8'? Bad ***..........

The rear engine compartment looks very large in all of these cars. I would not be at all surprised if car F0 23 is a V6 TDI, not a flat six. It is not all easy to simply "convert" the existing flat-6 architecture to a diesel engine. They are completely different animals.

At the pump both texts at fuel quality area are of same widh, ie. 98 or 95, not like 98 and diesel. And that accelerating FO 23 sounds now more like 8 cyl. Flat 8 perhaps?

No... there was a cryptic comment in a Porsche Exec Interview about something radical with the mirrors... speculation of something like removal and replacement with cameras and screens inside the doors perhaps ??

I can't see how a flat 8 helps them meet the CO2 regulations.

No flat-eight. That runs counter to everything this car needs. The cars on test might be running a battery of fuel saving devices and different exhaust configurations to compensate which is causing the engine note to be different.
New cylinder shut off systems are being tested, and Panamera will have smart power-steering, alternator, and oil pumps that switch off when not needed so these are also being tested for 991. There's also stop-start technology that probably won't make it over here due to our predilection for litigation, and we know that low pressure turbo's are being developed. And somewhere out there is a hybrid 911 running around with a flat-4...

Could it be a flat turbo 4? Rumored for a future Boxter.
