A poll would be interesting ... how many folks drive around town in Sport+?

I used it a couple of times to make sure it worked - then to make sure the launch control process worked. After that it seemed more odd than anything else. Sport, sure ... Sport+ for the track.

Default Pdk vs manual and .1 vs. 2

I imagine the above would determine how much it is used. If I drove an automatic I would not want it holding gears longer. On a .2 also probably not as pronounced and the engine leans more on the turbo for performance. With a MT and 3rd radiator in the .1 the car runs 10 degrees cooler in S+ which means a potentially longer life for expensive gaskets and rubber.

And the charge voltage is also higher and in-line with AGM batteries for the ambient temperature they are at. Why not run in Sport Plus mode?

Update. In S+ and manual mode getting 16-17 MPG around town. Does PDK .1S have 3rd radiator?

Irfan,

I'm gonna stick with my assessment that S+ is not meant for around town driving.

But, I could ask - why would you drive it in S+ around town?

in the 7MT in a 991.1, you get Rev matching, and that is cool!

Is it the vroom, vroom each time - or the better meshing of synchros - that is most interesting?

Both. I’m at 106K miles on the original clutch and I have driven it very hard over the last ten years. Still smooth as hot butter. I switch between the 991 and the 911G.

Default No but it came stock in GTS

And can be purchased for around $600+ install. It includes a new front valence which you then need to protect like the side ones with a screen.

Sport plus in manual is nothing like sport plus in PDK. In PKD sport plus holds gears much longer, doesn't downshift. Sport plus in manual is fantastic, zero turbo lag since you are almost 1 psig boost while stopped, obviously transmission shift however you like since you control gears, auto rev is super nice. I get around 19 mph flogging my car in sport 2 around town. in normal mode around town 21 mpg.

Those with emission update have a different S+ feel. It's not the same S+ we had. Now, IIRC, it feels more like an S until driven more aggressively. Unless the OP does launches at every light, it's probably in a typical S map. I have the old S+ and if I drive around town, it will always be in 2nd gear (pdk) LOL, unless manually upshift.

If I drive "spiritedly" on the street in sport mode I get about 12 mpg. About 27 to 30 on highway if driven conservatively in standard mode. About 8 mpg on the track in sport plus.

uh, performance / feel

saying no S+ around town is like saying you can't DD a GT3, or RS. I've done all of the above
