Default PCM Replacement/Upgrade?

Hi there folks,
Took my beloved 991S out of storage recently- long story short I had to jump the car and now my already finicky PCM refuses to turn on. While assessing my repair/replacement options I came across this AliExpress upgrade. Rather than shove CarPlay into the existing PCM 3.1, it replaces the whole unit with a much larger screen and modern processing/features. Wondered if anyone on here has gone this route and wondered how they like it.

PCM Upgrade

Thanks very much and happy 4th of July!

there is a huge thread below. But this unit is the best option currently available. I have gone through two CarPlay retrofits and I am now on this chstek unit and it’s awesome

Does it have that weird stretched aspect ratio? Couldn't deal with that.

Please see this thread

There are various resellers of the unit you linked to, most of us have bought it from Chstek who appear to be the main seller

The screen is awesome, especially when running navigation. The aspect ratio is fine and in proportion to the screen. I do not have any apps that look odd, they all look great.

In the thread above there are links to an installation and configuration guide that a few of us worked on, and the thread has many screenshots so you can see what it's like for yourself.

If you do decide to go down this route there is a lot of community help and support on the thread..

Can I suggest that you post any other questions on the thread I linked to so we keep everything relating to this topic in one place - thanks!

This isn't "fine." It's what happens when you stretch a 16x9 or 16x10 image vertically to fit a 4x3 screen.

True, but then that's a bad Photoshop image..

As I said above if you check the other thread that I referenced then you will see plenty of screenshot of the screen operating in real cars

Best to get info and advice from those of us who have actually installed the unit in question I think, rather than a screen grab

Looks interesting. I read through @andy2111 's guide and I have a couple of questions on this unit's functionality. Can you use the Porsche TPMS sensors or must you use the third party solution? Does it retain the standard Porsche menus for car settings?

Please can you post questions on the main thread and I'll happily help you. It will really benefit us all if we can keep everything in one thread - thanks

I HATE that main thread because people are discussing dozens of different solutions. Someone needs to take the time and split it into threads for each solution: Mr12Volt, Isudar, Chstek, etc. As it is the 3279 posts in a 219 page thread makes it nearly impossible to find anything meaningful.

I will post it there for what it's worth...

95% of the discussion is on Chstek and Erisin which are very similar. We encourage people to discuss the other solutions in their dedicated threads. We created the guide to help people like yourself by condensing down all the info from what is indeed a very long thread and fwiw we don't have the ability to split the thread. You'll find lots of help from us all over there...
