Which 991.2 C4S (or other non-GT) had 8k RPM?
Hi, all.
A friend of mine has a 991.2 (2018) C4S with an 8000 RPM redline that I had for a while. The tach shows up to 9k total and 8k without red. His car is from Canada. He's not the original owner but doesn't believe it's been modified and it drives similarly to mine speed and handling-wise - other than the extra revs and higher effective top speed per gear.
I wound up being surprised when I went to get a 991.2 C4S (since purchased) that it and others only had 7500 RPM redlines. Bought it and like it a lot even at lower redline but I did like the extra just a bit of top end engine moan and 2nd gear passing.
But we are still trying to figure out what's going on. I have checked out Porsche Finder and other Canadian 991.2 C4Ss seem to also have 7500 RPM redline.
Does anyone know what could be up with some North America (or otherwise) 991.2 non-"specials" having 8k limits?
Thanks!

Thanks! All the other 991.2s I have seen have had similar (sub 8k) redline - just wondering if anyone knows what might be up with this one and if there were any that were non-GT 991.2s that were "supposed" to have 8k redline?

Was the dash replaced?

I'm in Canada and I have a 2017 C4S, my dial is as Jack describes it. My buddy has a 2015 GTS and his goes to 9k, with red marks starting at 7600 rpm.

This is what I'm guessing too. Would be interesting if you had the build sheet. Perhaps that might give a little more information.

I have a Canadian 2019 C4S and it's as Thesaintusa says.
To the OP, doesn't an S have a grey RPM dial?
That's what my 2019 has and have read that's it is as installed at the factory.

Thanks all!
As far as I know the dash wasn't replaced but it could have been and he wouldn't know. It did come through a Porsche Dealer and was CPOd and they have no clue why it revs to 8. But it could be a tune and GT4 tach, just feels so similar to other 991.2 C4S driving-wise.
I may buy it from him not to make money just because it's a bit more fun at highway speeds (73 vs 80-ish top of 2nd closer to a GT4).
