I don't have a problem with that. Basically if it regards coding PSE it can be here

What options did you have before, and what do the buttons look like now?

I'm curious as from what I can tell there's only two variations of the panel for the targa model, but with various options you could have more buttons than two configs would offer. Mine doesn't have PASM, front-lift or PSE.

WAIT. I found what appears to be the console as a KIT? Now, it's listed as for a Boxster, but is this how the other consoles get delivered? That changes things a bit!

This makes me wonder what the difference is between the 99161396350DML and the 99161396307DML ?

Supposedly these are the five part numbers that pertain to a PSE upgrade:
991.613.955.03 DML Combined switch (switch console), I-no. 652, Coupé
991.613.957.03 DML Combined switch (switch console), I-no. 653, Coupé
991.613.959.03 DML Combined switch (switch console), I-no. 651, Coupé
991.613.967.03 DML Combined switch (switch console), I-no. 552, Cabriolet
991.613.963.07 DML Combined switch (switch console), Targa

Just got the switch console and installed it. So I now have seperate buttons for the new functions I coded. PSE and Sports plus.

Note that I tried using the board that came in the new console and it worked just like the original one that I pulled out of the car. So the board has nothing to do with programming, it's all in the button programmed locations.

Is it possible to code PSE to Right-Button-3 ? instead of Button-2 ?

I don’t remember if I tried button 3 on the right. It might work there.

Excellent thread, everyone, and hopefully an easy question that can summarize PSE center muffler function for those of us with 991.1 S models.
Disclaimer: I read through most threads, and this is MY understanding of how it works.

I have a '14 C2S, manual, no SC, no PSE. Does it have the plumbing required to install the PSE center muffler? If so, then a PSE eBay muffler and a console coded to the car would be all that is needed to have PSE on demand, fully functional?

That's correct, the S version has all the wiring, vacuum line and valves. The only thing you need to test is a thinkdiag so you can do temp program of the PSE function to your auto start/stop button. Once you've tested you can source the new button console and install the PSE button for permament coding. As far as the muffler you can keep your -S muffler and it will work just fine just won't have the same volume or tone of the PSE center muffler.

if you keep the S muffler I’d agree PSE lite. If you swap to PSE center muffler as well then I’d say it’s full PSE. You can also install non OEM valved center muffler that you control from the PSE button.

This is great information. I put out the question about programming a PSE on the ThinkDiag and didn't get any response. I was hoping it was possible because I can buy a ThinkDiag cheaper than taking my car 3 hours away and having a dealer program it. I have a 981, but it sounds like the programming options are about the same as the 991. Now if inventory would ever get stocked back up so they can ship me the PSE system that I have had on order for over 3 months, that would be great. I'm not sure if the 991 mufflers are in the same situation, but the 981 PSE's have been out of stock since Covid. They just got them back running this spring so I ordered mine and was told an April ship date, and now they are running into production issues again and can't give me a new estimated ship date.

Thanks. I initially thought I could just pop out the blanks for button 3 without removing the whole switch panel and then pop in the sport exhaust button there, lol. Apparently not, so since I need to remove and disassemble the panel to get the blanks out, I decided to just use the standard position and switch the start/stop to 3rd button

Did you anyone have y’all run into “Not Supported” Error when trying to get past BKE Field Assignment settings. I was able to toggle on the Sport Exhaust Flap but I can’t configure the button to PSE on/off.
