Vacuum closes the valves. If you disconnect and plug the line to keep it from throwing a code, the valves will be open all the time.

PSE retrofit troubleshoot

Hi all, I recently got a 991.1 that was missing PSE option with a Capristo valves exhaust (no remote). I bought the Suncoast PSE retro kit (excluding the actual PSE) and have a local Porsche expert programmed the PSE. While I’m getting the extra burble from Sport mode, the PSE button is not opening or closing the valve.

Observations:

1. Specialist claims the coding is done properly and I assume this is true since I’m getting the extra burbles in Sport / Sport Plus mode

2. While installing the center console buttons, I also replaced all 8 cov on the car with the latest cov version. Before this, the car was constantly on loud mode but this fixed the 3.8 Carrera S non-PSE behavior in #3 below. Per the installer, no vacuum lines need to be adjusted since the Capristo works like the OEM 3.8 non-PSE with auto/close exhaust flap. So in theory, it just needs PSE programmed.

3. Below 5mph, exhaust flap fully opens and idles loud, while exhaust flap closes to quiet mode until I hit 3300rpm fully opening again.

It’s my understanding that PSE behaves the same as 3.8 non-PSE but when PSE is on, the exhaust flaps should stay open regardless of 5 mph and it should have the option to close the exhaust flap at idle to stay quiet. Clearly this isn’t working.

Grateful to gather your ideas.
