Default C4S 991.2 Lost physical Key, still have keyfob

Yesterday had the pleasure of using the Valet services at an Event I was at, later in the night (at home)noticed that they turned my car on using the key fob yet the physical key was missing (The one which you have to remove via the switch and then pull it out)

I do have the secondary key for the car.

Do I need to get the car re-keyed, re-coded, don't worry about it?

Thoughts or advice?

Thanks

Are you referring to the dummy key?

The metallic one, isn't a valid key for when your fob runs out of battery?

I don't have much to add except how I would feel in this situation (sorry but I'd never valet my car) 🙁 but yes, I would be a bit concerned about that key missing. Was your registration, etc in the glove box? Easy to capture a pic and now they have your address. If you left your fob in the car, well...

I'm absolutely not saying this is what will happen or the intention, but the world we live in today is very sad.

last time I used a valet (for the first time) in my acura at a fairly luxury hotel the idiot wasted my clutch by driving with the e-brake on. hotel said not their fault. never again and certainly never in a million years in a carrera.
as far as the key goes I'm thinking either the hotel cleans this up or I'm calling the police.

Are you sure the valet key was in the fob to begin with?

Did you look in your cabin to see if it just fell out by accident?

If taken out deliberately and you have your registration in car, they know your home address. They can get in your car but cannot start it without the fob, but if they can get in your car, there is a bunch of things they can do.

Not sure what calling the police is going to do as there is no crime and no proof it was taken on purpose or even stolen.

This. Very unlikely that the valets even knew the key was there.

Calling the police will give them a good chuckle.

This is a civil matter. The police will not get involved in any way.

In UK, if you believe your car keys may have been stolen, you report this to police. You get a crime number. You pass this to your insurers. The police, theoretically, make enquiries. By advising your insurers, and passing on crime number, you are covered for replacement keys (f**king expensive from Porsche). No way is possible car theft a civil matter. Not this side of the pond. Struggle to believe it’s different in US

"Possible car theft"? In the U.S., the potential for a future car theft is not a crime. This is just a lost key. Also not a crime.

Good thing for me is that my registration has an address which is out of the country...
Should I then go ahead and get the car re-keyed?
Honestly I think it's a lost cause at this point.
Thanks,

your porsche dealer should know if there is a theft risk and advise you about a key.
