Porsche Car Insurance vs Hagertys
Bought my 911T a week ago with 11k miles. Insured with Hagertys initially for agreed value of $115k in OR for $2100 a year. Seemed high but this is my first AV policy. I checked through past Rennlist posts on insurance and concluded I was paying way too much. Learned of Porsche Auto Insurance through this forum. Just finished getting a olicy with them for $600/ year based on 3000 miles per year (the same mileage I gave Hagertys) and $118k value. The application was all done on line. You do submit a photo of odometer at application (and later) to verify mileage. I have $500 comp and collision versus $0 with Hagerty. They use only genuine Porsche parts for repair. I'm 63 with a clean driving record for last 10+ years.
Not totally equal situations but based on a premium that's $1400 a year less, it seemed obvious to go with PAI.
I guess I'll find out how easy they are to deal with if I ever make a claim. The insure in several but not all states yet.
Hope this helps others out there shopping for insurance.

I just moved to Hagerty. $125,000 agreed value. 6000 miles per year, garaged, not primary driver. $500,000 liability and property damage. $2500 deductible. Clean driving record. $1900 per year. I am paying a premium because my car is modified.

"Porsche Auto Insurance is offered by Mile Premier LLC, a managing general insurance agency with principal offices located at PO Box 725369, Atlanta, GA 31139 DBA Porsche Auto Insurance, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mile Auto, Inc." -- source: https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...erica%2C%20Inc.

None of this makes sense to me, C- is certainly not the level of service any of us expect from Porsche. Yet, Porsche is backing this offering so I want to assume you are receiving A+ service, not C-.

PAI did not ask if car was modified. What's the BBB rating of the company that owns Hagerty? PAI covers repairs using genuine Porsche parts.

I guess I meant yes to:
1. They do insure modern cars2. They do ask you to certify that you have another car that's your DD.
3. Not sure they require the insured car to be garaged, but who wouldn't if they have one.

I recently got insurance for my 991.2 through GEICO. They pulled a bait-and-switch on me with a higher premium that I didn't agree to or approve after they got my credit card info. I haven't had time to shop for new insurance, but made the time after seeing this thread. PAI/Mile Auto offered me a much better rate with agreed value, repairs in Porsche approved facilities with Porsche parts, etc., so I signed up with them. They charge by the mile and you have to send them odometer pics occasionally, which I'm ok with. Here's the problem I ran across that makes me a little nervous...
I was reviewing all the documents they emailed me. It was all very boilerplate and I'm no insurance expert. One of the docs said that for it to be Agreed Value (which it's supposed to be), it must be stated as such on the Declarations Page. I didn't see it there, so I emailed them about it. This is the reply I got: "I apologize, I will have the document updated and send you a revised declaration shortly." Huh? How did they screw that up? How much due diligence did Porsche do on this company? I'm getting the feeling that if it sounds too good to be true... Bottom line, check your policy closely to be sure that you're getting what you pay for.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked my declaration page and agreed value was there. Appreciate your helping us all out. PAI looks to be legitimate, but the real test is during claims time. At 30% of Hagerty premium, I'm taking my chances (and reading the policy carefully).

I already have 2 Hagerty covered classics in the garage. If I added the 991 they may wonder how I'm squeezing 3 cars in to a 2 car garage ;-) The 991 sleeps outside. When I feel generous I cover it up after a wash - but not always.

well it’s their business model. They insure cars that are driven less, taken care of more, and secured at night. That adds up to lower risk and allows for very competitive rates and better coverage (agreed value) - so you pay less. But you gotta play by the rules or you’re not truly insured! I’ve been super happy with a Hagerty claim on my old car - I would like to add the 991 but yeah - I’m out of garage space!
