911 Battery change (2013 991 CS) car wont start.
Dear members
advice really appreciated, I've not used my 911 for months, old battery dead as a dodo and so exchanged this for an exact like for like Banner battery.
Turned the key and the car started for 1-2 seconds then died instantly.
ALL the lights are working, windows, radio etc. but the car won't start.
Please could someone help????? (Ive tried just leaving the key in the ignition turned on for 30seconds to see anything reboots but no joy)
many thanks
Richard

Stupid question but is the new battery fully charged? Some you have to charge before installing. When you turn the key is there a clicking sound at all? If so toss a charger on it as it needs a charge. Just changing the battery shouldn't cause what your saying unless you shorted something out?

Since you state that the car started and then died I don’t think the battery is to blame.
At the risk of over-simplification, you need spark, compression and fuel to start the car. That happened.
Then you need air and fuel to keep the car running. That’s probably where you need to look.

I would check your fuses, it's very possible you shorted something while putting in the new battery. Also do you hear any clicks when turning the key?
Also double check your battery connection, making sure they are tight and no corrosion.

Like Joe said, if the accessories are working it stands to reason you've blown a fuse somewhere. I also found out the hard way that you really have to torque those battery connectors down tight- I had the stop/start function throw an error code until someone here mentioned that was likely the issue.

I feel like I just read another thread like this and the solution was to cycle the alarm. Something about the immobilizer. I might've been dreaming though, because that sounds ridiculous.
When you try to start the car, does it turn over? Or click? Or anything?
When it started then died, was it particularly violent or abrupt when it died, or was it just like normally turning off the car?

Battery in backwards? Red to positive. My vote would be that your new battery needs a good charge first. Do not assume that it’s fully charged.
