I driven a few Macan's, base and S. They are nice for what they are but I'm not an SUV fan. I would want the GTS and configured how I would get it would be about 100k. Just seems like a lot for a CUV. Also wife is not a fan of Macan's.

I am leaning towards ordering a G80 M3 Competition X-drive. Would be the best compromise and save me about $45k vs. the RS6 spec. Might just use the excess cash to open a trust for the eventual kid. I am definitely getting more mature, the old me would be trying to justify a Ferrari FF

Why don’t you street park the Volt? It’s not precious.

I live in a townhouse in San Francisco with no garage (well, there is one but it’s a very tight fit for a midsize car so we just use it for storage). I pay $190/mo./car to park my X5 and GT350 in a public garage one block away and I street park my Ram 2500. It works.

Good idea. In dark colors with a front lip they are tolerable. I put an offer on this M3Cx 50 Jahre but they wanted more markup than I was willing to pay.

Kid should come first and that should help you make the right decision.

That’s not even close to the record for revival of a zombie thread. It’s almost a tradition for new users to come in here and reply with some inane comment, “cool, yea me too,” for a 2+ year old dead thread. Then they get all pissy and defensive if you point it out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, having been here 18 months, I'm not sure I'm a "new user," and @Schn3ll never posted a conclusion to his dilemma, so it wasn't insane to reply.

I take my two kids to school most days in the back of my ‘14 C4S and even though my wife can’t drive a manual we have made it work for us so far. I will say that no matter what winter tires you have on there, this car doesn’t handle snow worth a crap so that would be a concern if it was your only car. I have a Wrangler for inclement weather.
