Carbon **** out of a 911R with replacement boot (red vs the white stitching).

I have the FF ****. Initially went with it because it can be installed a bit lower--poor man's short shifter. Only downsides are is that it's cold in winter (never felt it too warm in summer) and that it's not stock in appearance. In the summer I finally added the Numeric shifter (no cables). I took my original shifter and wrapped the plastic bit in leather (the rest of it is Alcantara) and installed that when I swapped to the Numeric thinking this would be perfect. And it was close! The materials felt fantastic but it lacked a bit of weight. Left it for a couple weeks trying to get used to it, but in the end swapped back to the FF ****. So solid and has weight, felt so much better than the stock shifter which puts plastic between you and she shifter no matter what.

Extremely happy with the Numeric + FF aluminum ****. I'll "suffer" with a slight cool feeling in the winter before it warms up in exchange for sublime feel/action the rest of the time. The look of the FF **** to me is great considering it's not stock--I have the black brushed aluminum trim, so the shifter is a perfect match to that. (you can get lots of combinations even what color if any for the shift pattern, I selected things to match my car)

I really like those custom aluminum/wood shifters I see people are getting from that guy in Mexico--I bet they are not cold to the touch in winter. I'll leave it to someone who has one to talk about the pros/cons of those. I imagine the only con would be the price. (and the look, if you don't want to introduce wood, but you could probably get a wood finish which doesn't look like wood)

Function First aluminum ****

Mine is from Black Forest Industries. Weighted and leather wrapped. Matches the car splendidly. Shifts feel firmer and more precise.

The OEM shifter on my GTS is OK.
I like the Alcantara, but the plastic cap on top feels a bit cheapy.

This looks great. I poked around on their website but didn't see an option to get the shift pattern on top instead of their company logo. While it looks nice, I wouldn't want to put something with a big non-Porsche logo in the middle of the car.

Can't go wrong with either Function First option. Lots of color combos. Main decision comes down to Delrin or Aluminum:
1. ALUMINUM - machined from a solid billet and anodized, this **** offers added weight for less notchy shifts

2. DELRIN - impervious to extreme temperatures, the lower weight of this **** yields faster shifts

I'll get a better shot once I go back to my car, but I replaced my FF with this wooden one. I have silver with Red Markings for a 7speed FF **** if anyone wants to buy one and not wait, DM me.
