Hi Tom,

A couple of question for you - I bought a DSC controller for my '17 Base in May of '23:
1.) Did this controller already come pre-loaded with the RS calibration?
2.) I changed out my springs/dampers for Bilstein B16 PASM coilovers - do i need a new calibration file to accomadte the hardware change or should i be okay with what's loaded currently?

The car feels great FYI, just wanted to know if there were further optimizations that i can make, thanks!

@DSC Sport or @Tom@TPC Racing

About to order a DSC - Can either of you tell me about the length of the USB cable that comes with it? Anything special about the cable you sell or can I get something suitable on Amazon? Can you provide the type/spec of the cable here?

I bought a longer generic USB cable (with one 90° end that connects to the DSC) so I could program it inside the car. I have done the zero ride height calibration so far. I plan to change some parameters in the future without having to remove it from the car.
StarTech.com 6 ft. (1.8 m) Right Angle USB to Mini USB Cable - USB 2.0 A to Right Angle Mini B - Black - Mini USB Cable (USB2HABM6RA) from Amazon. Sorry, can't get link to work...

Yep, this is the way to do it. I wasn't sure if there was enough room on the back side of the thing to fit a permanently plugged in cable but I thought others had done it. Definitely want to avoid this, which I had to deal with this past weekend:

1) We stop naming the calibration file in Q4 of '22. The file naming caused confusion/assumption that a car will become the car named as the file, or the name of a certain file is only applicable to that certain car model. Since Q4 of '22 the "standard" DSC calibration file is the most highly developed file for the 991/981/982(718) generation of cars combining all of the best characteristics of the calibrations from 2012-2022. Your 2023 controller is our best and likely the final version after a decade of evolution.

2) We use the same file for B-series coilovers/dampers. It is up to the user to change one setting(the Default Rate) in the DSC software for their personal preference. If it feel great to you as is then don't need to change anything. Suspension feel is subjective to each driver's personal preference so there isn't one file or one product that meets every driver's preference. We do our very best to create a product that we as developers and as driving enthusiasts want.

The cable is a common USB-Mini cable (v2.0 or v3.0). A 90-degree angle head is preferred for this generation cars. 3-feet length is sufficient if you're planning to zero the ride height sensors once and forget about it. Longer length if you want to spend time doing custom tuning.

Tom,

I installed a DSC in my ‘15 CS, SPasm. recently.

is it imperative to do the ride height calibration?

I read a couple of people said it doesn’t make any difference, others said you should do it.

thx.

Zero-ing the ride height sensors is optional, not a requirement. I suggest it for cars with lowered ride height. DSC controller is going to work whether the ride height sensors are zero or not. Zero-ing provides a potential, not a guarantee. It may already be working optimally or 99% to optimal.

@DSC Sport or @Tom@TPC Racing or anyone else who can give me an answer..:

Trying to zero the ride height on my new DSC and I don’t know which of the top two vehicle types is mine. Not sure what LNC is? I have a 2017 991.2 Carrera S with PASM if that helps.

@DSC Sport @Tom@TPC Racing
Posting this question out of curiosity after driving a friend's 991.2 T today. He recently upgraded to GTS turbos and a tune. Needless to say, it's a whole new beast with amazing power and is extremely fast. So much so, that you experience a bit of wheel hop or loss of traction when shifting gears under hard acceleration. Tires definitely have something to do with this and that will be addressed. Car is lowered on Tech Art or H&R springs (I forget which). This is primarily a street car / daily driver that gets driven spiritedly. He has the latest DSC but all settings are unchanged from new. How much can changing the DSC settings help? Any specific recommendations that you would make for the settings to address this specific issue?
