Hi All,
I received the following email and a letter from PNA last week regarding a voluntary software update for my 2013 C4S PDK. Before I cave in to the EPA and the State of California, is there any downside to doing the software update which supposedly will reduce emissions when I'm driving in Sport Plus without impacting performance?
Dear Mr. Feduska,
You are receiving this email because your Porsche 911 Carrera is subject to an Emissions Recall. The PDK transmission control unit (TCU) software in your vehicle needs to be updated to further reduce exhaust emissions when the vehicle is operated in the Sport+ mode. This update is now available at your Porsche dealer at no charge to you.
The software update will take approximately 60 minutes; however, depending on the dealer’s work schedule, it may be necessary to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time. Your dealer will help arrange alternative transportation if it becomes necessary.
This software update will be carried out at no charge to you and has no impact on fuel consumption values for your vehicle, drivability, performance or safety.
What should you do?
Please contact any authorized Porsche dealer to schedule an appointment to have this software update performed as soon as possible.
