Because it would take 12-16 months

My FIL just took delivery of a 992 Targa 4S that he ordered back in 08-2020

I’m usually a big fan of the pepita seats, but IMHO they don’t work with this interior.

There you go. The car is now worth $180K. Buy it.

This interior is forced.
Thank you sir! I dig the classics!

With dealers asking $50K over msrp and a year wait, it’s not as outrageous as it sounds. Nearly perfect build in my opinion. Yes, the seat piping would tie in better if it was tobacco like the rest of the interior and the pepita would be better if it was a brownish and white color but I’d trade my 2019 GTS + $50K to put it in my garage. Looks like the option list was fully checked.

This seller knows his stuff, knows what he can and cannot get for these cars, and how long he's willing to wait before lowering prices. Plus, in NYC where there's lots of money and many Porsche enthusiasts.
It's great to get the input and advice from so many knowledgeable P Car guys on this board, but there's no magic bullet here to get a 'reasonable deal', he'll get close to asking one of these days. Go for it... if you can!

I think with some dealers, if you expect to get a sizeable discount, you must also be prepared for supreme disappointment.

While I would love to have pepita inserts in my car, I also don’t think the color matches that well. I’m not that familiar with “LTS” but is one able to order a car with pepita inserts from factory? I thought it was for Leather only.

UPDATE: Made cash offer just over MSRP. Seller replied he wants to make a deal but $80K off his asking is not good enough. Raised my offer by $10K and suggested we talk numbers. Only thing he had to say was "Lol" multiple times after attempting to engage then told me to go look for a car elsewhere. Such sour behavior, what on earth... I really tried raise this gent up out of this (hence this thread) but fail.

Thank you all for the help anyway! Back to the hunt: 991.2 Targa 4 GTS

I hate to tell you…but I did. Not a guy that you want to do business with unless you’re looking to pay his absurd non-negotiable price. And to top it off then a total d*** when you don’t meet his price. Plenty of fish in the sea! Good luck on your hunt, that’s 25% of the fun then 75% is driving the car that you eventually obtain knowing it was the perfect one at a reasonable market price.

Reminds me of a certain person who sells 993s. It drives me nuts when dealers/seller "lol" a valid offer – especially when you're offering that much.

The car is cool, but $300k for a non-GT 911 just seems absurd. You're not that far from a 911R or a Speedster at that point.

It’s real simple find an allocation wait a year for a new car specked how you want it and save 50k. Or if money is not an issue make an offer that won’t insult him and buy this one.

Could have gotten $250/60 out of me if behavior was just slightly resembling someone who actually runs a business. Not sure about the demographic this dealer normally deals with!

From the looks of it, he probably wouldn’t have sold it to you even at $260k. Plenty of cars to buy at that price point though.

Tell him yes it's a Targa and manual but the problem is that it's got 2 turbos... lol will never be as "desirable" as a 991.1 Targa
Also missing the LED headlights - dealbreaker for me at this price point. Xenon headlight might have been his choice for aesthetic reason though but still...
I don't like the phone holder on the dashboard, it's hideous. Did they have to make a hole on the dashboard?

Hard to fault this car otherwise since it's super heavily optioned.

Agreed for this kind of money, you are better off with a GT car or upgrade to Speedster.
