I would say 30k miles. Im guessng in that price range your don't have 20k to pull out if a pdk fails. On a MT car i might consider 50 or 60 but you depreciation will be horrible if you drive it as once it hits 80 to 100k a majority of the value is gone.
Car is at 114k miles, bought Feb 7, 2011. And what I have replaced so far is:
Rear tail lights (plastic clasp broke)
Headliner (glue weakened)
Dashboard (leather shrunk from sun)
Side markers (water started to creep in)
Both horns (Florida drivers are horrible)
2 Transmissions (both under warranty)
Not counting numerous tires and some brake pads.
Overall, it has been a solid car since 43k miles when the trannies got replaced. Most of the items have been in the last few years
I love this part "Porches hold up extremely well in comparison to other brands" My porch is holding up extremely well after 12 years, some creaks and weathered components, but still going strong.
What a horrible article, really. Can't get over the typos...
Is this the white one listed on Craigslist in the Denver area? If so, the seller got back to me recently and said someone has a deposit down on it already. Unless, that’s you who put the deposit down...
Thanks, I'll keep that option in mind. What kind of weather are you comfortable driving in with rear wheel drive? Heavy rain? 1 in of snow? 4 in of snow?
I run all seasons, and they are great in rain and temps down to freezing. I don't take the 911 if there is snow out - if that's on the list, I'd go with snow tires. I think a 911 with snow tires will be as good as an AWD with all seasons in the snow (but that's just my conjecture). What I like about all seasons is I run them year round, and don't have to worry about those days when it's in the high 20's/low 30's in the morning (going to work), but in the 50's in the afternoon (coming home).
with my '07 987S nearing 170K miles soon, and yet it still pulls and drives like the day I got the car.. I say 200K-250K miles are easily possible with proper service and maintenance.
Different engine from 991.1 engine but most would agree they are all very reliable, if anything the 3.4L in 987S is actually less reliable with its dual row IMS old school engine.
If you have all service history and confirm everything is up to date, and are comfortable with the idea that something will break eventually. go for it.
if not buy a diff car. these cars are expensive to maintain out of warranty. If you plan on driving the car on a regular basis and put miles on it, I would also go in another direction. The dream of owning a Porsche can quickly turn into a nightmare.
what other sports cars could you get for the same money? BMW, Audi? sure they are not as ''special'' ,even though today people could argue no 911 is special either, but how much is that special worth it to you? you could drive maybe an M4 or an RS5 and have the peace of mind that they are covered under warranty.
128K this past weekend on my 14 Carrera 4 with PDK.
Zero leaks, burns no oil , and the PDK shifts like a boss. It doesn't hurt that only 1 dealership has worked on it since Day 1 . The only thing that irks me about the 991 platform are the cheap door cards and Bose radio amp inconsistencies.

Both those issues can be solved with finding leather door cards from a dismantler and going full aftermarket stereo, granted this would be a $5,000 investment give or take to do it right. But that's not terrible in the car modding world.
2013 C2S CAB and 78k strong. Three year ownership since 61k mile CPO purchase. Full service and maintenance records throughout day one (from Porsche print outs I requested during purchase). I have had rear wheel bearing go out and covered under CPO. Porsche also mounted two brand new Pilots for the rear under CPO during the axle/bearing repair due to the excessive tread wear. Next, windshield washer pluming broke (CPO) and both rear window regulators replace (CPO). I added normal service like oil, plugs, belts, filters, fluid exchanges and the heat shield bulletin
