Center lug nut separation (c ring)

Center lug nut separation (c ring)
So, new to me 911 with center locks. Went to change wheels, and both rear nuts separated upon removal. I cleaned them off, and put back together. I put the c ring in it's groove, and got it locked in to the collar. As soon as I go to put the nut on the wheel, the c ring pops out. It's impossible to keep it in the collar. I have researched to death if there is a trick to keeping the C ring in, but no luck. I will say, the metal washer is no longer flat, kind of has a bend in it, wonder if that isn't helping. I will also say that when I tighten the wheel up as is, I am still getting a little movement of the wheel on the hub, so am wondering, how to keep the ring in, and if that is most likes the cause of the wheel not seating 100%? Appreciate any info.

Cant say for sure but there is a chance it was over tightened at some point which resulted in metal washer getting bent?
If you are close to a dealer, get your hands on 1 new metal washer and give it a try.

I had the locknut separation happened on my 2 front wheels. I told the Foreman at the Porsche dealership and he ordered me to circ clips. This solved the problem.
I was able to assemble the lockout after separation but upon next wheel removal, the nut separated again.
I would bring the nut to the dealer and have the dirt it out. Sounds like new circ clips should sort you out since yours are doing the same thing mine did.
Good luck.

Thanks, yeah, on one of the diagrams, from the side, it shows the washer as being flat. I tried cleaning all the parts out as good as I could, and no luck. I did order a replacment kit from suncoast, hopefully that will help.

Dealer sorted it out. No issues since then.

Sounds like your nuts needs a rebuild! I would not trust it if they are popping off before you put them on the wheel. Someone might have troqued them while the car was on the ground, or over torqued.
The washer while having the wavy grove is totally flat. If yours is not, then it is no longer useable. Make sure you don't use too much paste, just enough to cover everything, and fill in the groves.
Take pics, and let us know how the rebuild kit goes, I have been thinking it should be something everyone keeps on the shelf if something like this pops up.
