A body shop that repair heavily damaged cars should be able to examine and quantify overall squareness of everything. If it’s great then move on and forget about it. If something is less than perfect then this could be a source. For this ongoing problem. Unfortunately the dealer is assessing the problem from one side and not all aspects.
The last 2 of the 3 owners were on this forum and both had the car listed here for sale. The history of whatever issues they had faced is documented here. Between that and the conversation with the previous owner,PPI etc I would like to think that the car was not involved in an accident.

Are they still active on the forum? It’s just difficult to understand your situation. How many miles ago was the first transmission replacement? No issues after this?

Others have stated that the dealer needs to be looking elsewhere. Seems like the original problem still exists and the need for transmission was a misdiagnosis. Do you have Indy PorSche specialist shops with experienced techs in your area.

Some have asked for history of the car PDK and miles when failure. Added alignment info as well. Owner 2

5/5/2017 - 33708 miles - PDK replacement

4/9/2019 - 52312 miles - transmission error ; PDK and DME programmed.

Owner 3

7/16/2019 - 52700 miles - alignment because of new rims/tires

10/11/2019- 54381 miles - lowering springs and alignment

Owner 4 (me)

2/3/2021 - 62250 miles - alignment because got new tires. - Indy said possible front sway bar preload present w/ lowering springs (pulls right)

6/7/2021 - 7/15/2021- 62887 miles - PDK 2 replacement and alignment

7/27/2021 - Lost all gears other than 1 and 4. Car started and drove fine after restart. PDK recalibrated at dealer

7/30/2021 - PDK errors. Restarted fine next day and drove to dealer for drop off.

Porsche told me to pound sand on a 997tt that had the carbon fiber lifting for the 2nd time with only 12000 miles on the clock. (Out of warranty due to time).
That was a known issue also.

If they don’t stop telling their customers to f-off when it’s clearly a mfg defect, I’m likely to look at other brands (I’m on my 7th Porsche).

These cars cost too much to put up with this. I wouldn’t care if you were the only person in the world to have a PDK failure, they need to step up.

Good luck to you.

Got the car back. The issue was a lose harness to transmission module. Secured the harness and errors went away.

Glad it worked out for you and hope Fidelity Powertrain warranty covered the cost for you.

Could that harness have been loose from the beginning and was missed? Is the harness connector broke and just being shoved together?

Thank goodness!
I’m already starting to eyeball #8 & would have hated to have to make good on my word!

Really glad this is working out for you.

I am not sure but I did ask the question if the issue all along was a lose harness and was told that it wasn’t. At the end of the day I end up with a 2 year warranty on transmission in addition to having the Fidelity warranty.

The dealer resolved the harness issue on their own dime since it was part of the transmission work they did. Regardless of the frustration caused and my confidence in PDK I’m really pleased with the dealership.

They were going to give a significant discount for the replacement to help me. However after finding out that I have Fidelity Powertrain warranty the SA worked directly with the Fidelity agent and got it covered. The transmission had to come from Germany which I agreed to pay for to expedite the shipping. The day the work was being done the transmission fell and split so had to wait again for a replacement transmission which was also expedited. I did not have to pay for shipping at all due to the delay. Anyways after 6 weeks and a $500 deductible I received a refurbished transmission with 2 year warranty on parts and unlimited miles.

I hope this thread helps anyone receiving the same errors as me + has Fidelity powertrain warranty and can get a replacement with minimal cost.

Cheers!
Reviving this a bit as I'm looking at extended warranties and I was encouraged that you received a replacement PDK under the Fidelity Powertrain coverage.

Do you know exactly how your SA described/explained the failure to Fidelity? Did an adjuster come to see the car or just deal with the SA over the phone? Your error codes seem to be in line with the reputed position sensor within the transmission (that Porsche refuses to be replaced/repaired and must result in a new transmission). and I'm very curious to know if your SA was honest/clear about the cause of the "breakdown."

Is everything fine with the car now that they solved the harness issue?

After the SA started the claim with Fidelity an adjuster was assigned to the case and was at the dealership a couple of days later. From
what I was told is that they reviewed the codes, took pictures etc and then came back with a decision within a couple of days. I can’t imagine how the dealership could hide any information from them. Also the dealership
was giving me a significant discount for the repair so they knew they were going to get their money either way.

Car has been fine after the harness issue and now on top of Fidelity I have 2 year of Porsche warranty on the transmission so have peace of mind. Hope that helps.
