I've been looking for a 991 (.1 or .2, didn't care which) Targa since October. Was looking for any color exterior other than white or silver, full-leather interior, sport seats, premium package plus mostly for ventilated seats and entry & drive, PSE, and a MT. I found a 2015 that met all the specs but it was silver about two months ago, and realized by this time I was likely going to have to give up something, so went for it (even though it involved buying sight unseen and shipping from CA to FL). We had a verbal commitment at that point, but the seller changed their mind. Bummed to say the least as even though it wasn't the color I wanted, it was everything else, including only having about 25k miles.
About two weeks ago, someone in the HFS thread posted a 2017 graphite blue with every option I wanted and 21k miles that was in Virginia, but it was PDK. I had a 981 Boxster GTS PDK for the last three years and was content with it, so figured OK, I'll go with that, but someone here had snatched it up in the one hour that had gone by since it was shared. Color inside and out was stunning - had never seen one that looked like that before, and I was really bummed when I realized I missed out on it.
Two days ago a black 2015 popped up not too far from me, priced decent for the market, but didn't have the seats or leather interior, and also had red gauges which I wasn't 100% sold on. 29k miles and also a PDK, but at this point I was doubting more and more that I'd ever find what I was looking for, so I put down a deposit and was going to take a trip up tomorrow afternoon to take a look at it, and throw in the towel and take it so long as it was in as good of condition as I was told.
So I wake up at 5am today and do my first of what will surely be many refreshing of search results by newest listing at the top to see if anything new popped up overnight on the 15 websites that I've been checking every hour, every day, for the last eight months, when the planets aligned. At a random Jeep dealer less than 10 miles away, an absolutely perfect, stunningly beautiful 2017 Targa 4S that is spec'd exactly like the graphite blue one I had missed out on a few weeks ago, but with a MT instead of a PDK, magically appeared - and with less than 9k miles.
The dealer opened at 9am and I was there at 8:55. It was priced at what I considered to be very fairly and I had to only negotiate a little on the trade to get them up to where the other dealer I was going to tomorrow was, and a few hours later off I drove. It's more than I could have ever hoped for when I started my search, and I have every expectation of it being my forever Porsche, as I couldn't see selling if for $15k more than I just bought it for if someone asked me tomorrow.
Thanks for reading my completely useless story - the least I could do is share a couple of pics (from the dealer, I've already swapped the clear LED sides over!):

It was meant to be! Wow less than 9K miles! I have 17K miles on mine and I thought that was low!

Nicely done. Congrat on a beautiful car. Finding your 911 is rarely a boring story.
