Default Engine Control Fault day 1

Hello,

I bought a 2018 GTS for my birthday. After putting on 20 miles, a Engine Control Fault code was thrown. I was not driving aggressively. The car only has 3k miles total. It may have sat for a long time.

I took it to the Porsche dealership. They said the battery must've died because there was a bunch of codes they had to clear out. They said the check engine was for mass airflow sensor. They reset everything and told me the battery was fine (although original). The car only has 11 months of warranty left.

30 minutes after the dealership, the car is throwing check engine again. It's driving sluggish. I noticed the windows also sometimes slightly roll down and the dashboard lights may've been flickering.

Could this be the battery? A ground? Bad gas? Any ideas?

I'm really disappointed to not get to drive my new car. It's missing shifts, losing power etc. This is my first Porsche and I hate to think this is what ownership is like. Any reassurances?

Check terminals on battery to make sure they are tight. If they are have the battery tested.

Roger that. They tested the battery and said it's original but fine. I'm skeptical of battery longevity in Arizona.

I'll go check, but pretty sure it was always stored in a climate controlled garage. Water ingress means water on electrical right?

If the Issues conti he, it could be worth getting battery tested elsewhere and see what the conclusion is. Good luck.

I’m probably wrong but it seems that anytime I read a thread about a 991 which suddenly starts throwing all kinds of strange and inexplicable codes that go away and come back and all kinds of strange crap, it turns out to be an issue where water gets into the vehicle due to some sort of faulty drain (or blockage) usually (but not always) in vehicles with a sunroof. The other culprit to these mystery issues is pests (rats, etc) eating through various cables, wires, etc. There are a few recently active threads on these topics.

Cool thanks for the tip. It sounds like a lot of people experience the joys of gremlins.

I'm not sure i'd buy another one if this problem can't be solved on a 3k mile car.

Change the battery as it is relatively cheap, drive it for two weeks, if still troublesome return.......

Should I buy an extended warranty from Endurance? My warranty expires in 11 months. I think it's 4k for 3 years.

Car should be under warranty-take it back to the dealer and let them sort it out. Was the car purchased from a dealer, or was it private?

From a dealer. I have an appointment scheduled in the morning for service. I didn't expect to already have two visits to the service bay
