Lane departure warning? I know the first time I heard it in my wife's Macan it was an odd sound.

Maybe the previous owner ran over a kid and now your car is haunted, I would sell it or have it washed with holly water and waxed with the melted wax from an altar.

Sorry I just finished watching Season 9 of American Horror Story, my wife is delighted with my daily comments.

It almost sounds like a bell on a kid's bike and it started happening at the end of last driving season and seems more prevalent now. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Possible sources:
  • You set speed limit(s) (one or two): each time you go over it/them, you hear a chime;
  • You are getting dangerously close to the car in front of you ..... according to the sensor;
  • You forgot to turn your lights off before getting out of the car;
  • You have set the parking lights and the car is reminding you that you have;
  • You left you key in the ignition and are getting out of the car;
  • You are driving with a door open (or the frunk or the sun roof or the folding top) open .... according to the sensor;
  • You need to perform some kind of maintenance on the car ..... according to a sensor;
  • The sound you hear has nothing to do with your car, but happens when you are in the car.

I'm betting it's a notice of either a text message or an E-mail. Try turning off the PCM and driving for awhile and see if it still occurs.

Correct. We had the identical situation in our 2014 Cayman. Drove us nuts for months until we figured it out.

Everything points to the PCM and incoming texts. The tech will look at it tomorrow. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm not sure why after 6 years it's happening now

Hi TT420. Everything points to the PCM and incoming texts. Thanks for your suggestion. The tech will try and reset it tomorrow. I'm not sure why it's happening 6 years after i bought it

LOL. It looks like it's the PCM and incoming texts. Why it's happening after 6 years is beyond me. The tech will reset it tomorrow

Thanks Joan. We think it's incoming texts. Why it's happening after 6 years of driving is the mystery.

You and Viper are correct. That's what it turned out to be. It never happened in 6 years of driving

How did your tech resolve it? I have been trying to turn that off too. It is the only thing I despise about the car. Everybody keeps blaming my phone, and they are right... if I turn my phone off when I am driving, I do not get that blood curdling alert in surround sound. I have spent hours going through every option on the PCM. I even resorted to RTFM to no avail.
