Hello!
So sorry if this thread is dead, but I recently purchased a 991.1 with Xenon headlights and have an opportunity to purchase a 991.2 LED Headlights.
Would the process be the same for putting a 991.2 LED headlights to a 991.1 with Xenon lights?

Not really. LED headlights have PDLS plus functions as well. so you need to connect a lot more wires than this process. Also it needs software tuning as well.

I recently purchased some .2 lights from bayoptiks for my .1. Everything installed and worked great except the high beams aren’t working. It will active the lower yellow bulb but the main xenon doesn’t get any brighter. Anyone have suggestion? Car is non pdls

haven’t heard back yet. Originally my car was base bi xenon and installed pdls lights. Everything works with no errors except for the high beams. Anyone know how to make them work?

There is a slot the matches up to the pin on the headlight for the DRLs. I actually have to do them over sometime next week. I’ll try to take some pics of the process.
ok, so I think I saw you sold the car some time ago, but was wondering if you had any error messages on the dash or if you had any problems with the new bumper drl’s -before you installed the 991.2 headlights. I’m asking because I did a 991.2 conversion on my 991.1 and everything works ok -except the drl’s, they don’t turn on -the markers do work it’s just the drl’s so I’m wondering if they need to be coded or if it’s a different voltage or just my luck?
thanks!

I never had any issues or error messages. Everything was working as it should.

Could you clarify your post. Which DRL’s aren’t working for you? The 4 point DRL’s in the headlight, or the DRL’s in the bumper?

ok, I don’t have the .2 headlights, so I’m currently running the 991.1 headlights with the rest of the 991.2 lights and the ones that don’t light up are the ones in the bumper, -do those even light up as in the .1 along with the dots in the headlight? Now what I’m thinking is that I need the .2 headlights since those have the drl’s and the ones in the bumper are not drl anymore rather just the blinkers, is that correct?

Oh ok. I ran the 991.2 bumper/bumper lights without the 991.2 headlights for a short time without any issues. It was plug and play. No error messages or coding needed. The bumper LED’s functioned as both DRL’s and blinkers just like on a 991.1. If you switch on your parking lights, you should notice that the bumper LED lights up white and the turn signal in yellow. Make sure that your bumper lights aren’t faulty because they should work as normal.

Thanks for the response! It’s weird… maybe it’s because my car is a 2012 991 or maybe it’s actually both lights that are faulty… I guess the only way to know will be to buy a new light and try it out. Also, I’m assuming the gt3 and the lights you had are the same for all 991.2, right?

The 991.2 GT3 lights have a different shape than the Carrera's. But other than that, they should work the same way.

Attempting this swap but haveing hard time getting the 10-pin to sit down in the connector. Seems to be sticking about half way in. Anyone who did this have more pointers?

Figured out how to set the pins but drls in the lights wont fire. 10pin is spliced. There is nothing connecting to the 12pin location so that pin addition seems pointless.

i have PDLS. All that seems to work. And looking at the male pins on the .2 lights. Only pin 10 is different from my .1 lights.

maybe i am splicing into the wrong DRL wire? Yellow + blue stripe?

Did some continuity testing today to confirm my splices are solid. Checked the wiring diagrams too. Confirmed the yellow+blue wires are the bumper DRL power. Decided to check the headlight assembly to make sure the ebay DRL ballast are good. Found that the high beam and DRL power goes through these little ballast. When testing the ballast, I can get continuity through the high beam pins but none of the other pins show continuity from one side to the other. I guess its possible to get 2 bad ballast, or I am missing something.

Might be a stupid question, but did you make
sure that the light switch is in the “home/off” position when testing the DRL’s? The headlight DRL’s do not turn on when the switch is switched to the parking lights or headlights. In other words, when the bumper DRL’s are on, the headlight DRL’s turn off.
