And So It Goes...
As my wife leaves in my new ‘19 Carrera S to do errands. After all, she gave me permission...

Drifting
This thread cracks me up! I've had my P over a year and still haven't let my husband drive it! And I think he's waiting until I do before he'll let me drive his Hellcat!
But we both drive the crap out of our F-150! Neutral territory if you will! We share everything in life... Except our cars! 🤣

I know how you feel, but there is something thrilling to know she is taking an interest in the car. When she returns and all is well, you will breath again. Take heart! Be strong!
After all, how many women drive a 911? Especially a manual!

There are more of us around than you’d guess.
I agree - not huge numbers relatively speaking but I see plenty of women
at the track in their manual Porsches (or other cars) and I’ve had many female students in my
10 years as instructor. I seek out the ladies as they generally make excellent students and most
are smooth (although I’ve experienced a few who weren’t - ugh).
When I started at the track I had great instructors and mentors that motivated me to not only
continue driving and progressing, but also to give back to the sport.
My husband also supports my dreams (we are both car people) and he was a track driver
until some health issues forced him to quit.
I love reading about couples who share the joy and the cars. I generally prefer mid engine but I do love the 993.
It’s only our 2nd 911 (the first was a 991.1 RS sold after 18 mo and 6k miles). I was searching for a 991.2 for awhile
when the 993 literally fell in my lap (neighbor of a 993-friend). And it’s worked out great. Hubby even grew to love it
very quickly which makes it even better for me.
Glad to see vanlieremead’s wife and car are home safe!!
Congrats on the new car and I hope you and your wife enjoy for many miles in the best of health!

The wife, even though she encouraged me to go through with the purchase, won't even try to drive the 911. She knows how to shift a stick and the Porsche manual is easy to drive.
Deniability over the first significant scratch/dent is probably part of her hands-off policy.

The car has brought us closer together and we have spent some quality time on some beautiful road trips. We were both heavily involved in the build and there to receive it on delivery. Naturally, I insisted she drive it down the coastal route to our favorite restaurant before I even sat in the driver's seat. I drove on the way home. I actually love being with her when she drives; there is an elegance about her shifts and lines of approach.
Like you, she desires a mid engine car. However, for now, we both prefer to share this car together. To be honest, when I see her depart in the car, I am so happy she is using the 911 as it should be enjoyed. Drive your 993 and enjoy! They are beautiful, no? Cheers!
