Electronic Parking Brake Adjustment Costs $1250?!?
A little while ago I started receiving parking brake malfunction errors on my 991.1 GT3. I just brought it into the dealer for a fluid change and had them look at the brake at the same time. The SA figured it was just an adjustment issue, so no parts to change and no big deal.
He was right in that it needed an adjustment, the air gap was about 2.5mm and the spec is 1.8mm. But he came back and told me that to adjust it, it would be $1250 with 5-6 hours of labor?!
So does anybody have experience with adjusting this themselves, or what a reasonable cost would be?
I looked at the shop manuals and it doesn't really seem too difficult, but there must be some reason they quoted so many labor hours, no?

I thought it was as simple as to plug your car into a carputer and hit calibrate.

That's insane. I did mine (991.1 C2S) in about 30 minutes. Checked afterwards with an iCarsoft diagnostic tool.

It's pretty straight forward... You would do the following...
Use a scantool (I used ), to check the airgap on the parking brakes.
If airgap is off and out of spec, do the following

If airgap is off and out of spec, do the following
- Remove both rear wheels (get them in the air)
- You have a GT3 so remove one of the nubs (if a regular 911 you'd be able to see it in the hole the lug bolt goes in)
- Release the parking brake
- Move the brake disc/hat with the nub removed until you see the brake shoe spanner
- Adjust both as needed
- rerun the airgap test and see if they're in spec

lol. They charged me $250 to read the code, so that boat is still getting paid for :/
I actually already have PIWIS, just have to pick up my jack stands at some point from my other Garage. Thanks!

As my son has said, entities like these must really hate the internet. A great equalizer for “the guilds”.
I remember years ago my wife being charged $40 and a trip to the dealer to replace a remote battery. For 2 minutes and a $2 battery...

Do not pay this. You are being robbed.
The procedure is straightforward and has been discussed on this forum in the past.

For anyone who can and is willing to work on their own car, this is insanity.
Then again, so are $500 oil changes and most other time vs mileage based services.
