Bye-Bye 991.1, hello 992

Congrats on the upgrade. The 992S is the total bomb, seriously fast machine. Based on your fantastic write up, I will absolutely not test drive it, as I am weak and will just have to buy it.
Enjoy it in the best of health.

Awesome. Man those are crazy Ferrari costs. Obscene.
I have a 2013 C2S MT with all the performance options. I should drive a 992 soon. I’ll likely skip the Ferrari. I too bought Apple in 2004. It’s up 7500+ %. Never sold a share either. Still haven’t. Btw I have done the same thing with tsla. I Bought 2019 have not sold a share and will not for 10 years.
In was going to look at a 991.2 TT this weekend. Maybe I’ll test a 992 as well.
thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate it.

To the OP....
You made the right decision of Porsche vs Ferrari. I owned an F430 for two years and about 5000 miles. Half of those miles were to and from the dealer for maintenance and minor repairs where I was treated rudely as a normal business practice. Nothing, I repeat, nothing sounds like a flat plane crank V8 screaming to the redline in each gear while driving through a tunnel. I used to joke that owning a Ferrari was like being married to a smoking hot, red headed super model. Fun and exciting at times, but mostly a PITA. “You can’t drive me there. I simply won’t go,” “I refuse to accept anything you get for me unless it comes in a box with the nice horsey on it. I don’t care what it costs. If you loved me, you’d buy it for me.” I think you get the picture.
Now get out there and drive wheels off of that 992 while you still can.

I decided to take a closer look at the 992 yesterday (an S with RWS, and sport package), and the main upgrade I noticed was the interior. It's a huge step up, for some reason it feels more spacious than my 991.2 (my carbon buckets probably don't help this). While driving the 992, the overall size growth wasn't noticeable, it didn't seem any larger than the 991.2.
Overall refinement is a big step up too, really well done Porsche. The tech is miles better.
But, I don't think I am ready to move on from my manual 991.2 T. The main factor is that the T is far more raw and visceral - much more theatrical. The new car has much more sound deadening (and rear seats) and it felt a little disconnected compared to my car. Very fast, and launch control is flat out nuts, but I couldn't trade my car for one especially for the $40k premium. Maybe the 992 GT3 Touring someday if stars align.
Can't go wrong though, there are no bad 911's. Enjoy it!

Excellent choice. I personally would have picked the new PDK which has been described as sublime. I really prefer the softer tone of the turbo six in my 2018 C4S and its massive thrust compared to the raspier, louder and slower NA flat six. I too have a manual with a light clutch but wrist tendonitis (brought on by cycling) makes me wish sometimes I had picked the PDK. Have fun. Fantastic car. Best 911 yet.

Haha..old cyclist's problems. Yeah I do have multiple wrist braces to alleviate my inflamed wrists and I use a nice supportive one when driving. Thank you. And for a while in 2017, I couldn't even drive my car after my second rotator cuff surgery because of the intense pain just from moving a shift lever or for that matter getting in and out of my 911. Bummer for sure!
