Default Performing basic maintenance and building service record.

i will likely do basic maintenance such as air filters, oil and filter, brake fluid flush and brake service my self. What do others do to document the service you perform yourself?

I probably won’t tackle plugs at the 4 year service and let the dealer do that.

I keep receipts of all purchased parts and maintain a spreadsheet of all DIY services including dates, mileage, part numbers etc..

I know most of the gentleman here are "diligent" when it comes to their vehicles but unless you own a 918 spyder or something a simple excel spreadsheet showing what you did and when you did it should suffice...nobody is gonna ask for receipts when you resell your base 911 with 70k miles you know what i mean?

you would be surprised, especially on classic cars..

These days most parts are ordered online so a simple invoice print to PDF takes 5 seconds and takes no space

You can log the service you, and any dealers, have done using the Carfax Car Care app....easy peasy.

You can even upload receipts, etc if you want.

How do you like the experience in that app? I'm leaning towards an app, or going old school and writing it down directly in the manual, in the included pages for service notes.
Thanks in advance.

I data log all the cars in the MyCarFax phone app. Some data gets logged by some dealerships. What they don't enter, I do myself.

Exactly what I do. Even the local shop where I get my wife’s Lexus serviced pushes the info to the app, and as you said, any self maintenance or maintenance the dealers or other shops do that for some reason gets missed, you can easily add yourself. It’s nice having all the info at your fingertips. Also tracks oil changes and tire rotations and alerts you when it’s time. It’s a nice app.

Receipts can also be critical if you have to file a warranty claim, and Porsche tries to say that required maintenance work was not done.

I have an excel sheet, plus I keep all receipts in a binder and every time I do maintenance I use/annotate a fresh Porsche Maintenance Checklist as well.

Might be a little OCD, but it's easy enough to do.
