Default 991.2 base non pse exhaust upgrade advice

Next on my list for the 991.2 I purchased last week is an exhaust that produces a proper noise from this engine. Coming from an R8 and GT350, this stock unit is way too subdued. I want some pops and crackles like I heard on the pse equipped 991.2 I drove last week.

I've spoken with several aftermarket providers who are hesitant to say their systems will produce the same sounds, or better, than the pse option.

If there are no other comparable solution, it looks like i'll need to purchase the pse from suncoast and have someone local install it on my car.

What do you think? Any other options or pitfalls you can advise me of?

Much appreciated, thanks

On the 991.2, most owners love adding sport cats to uncork the exhaust and add volume. Equal length headers will add a bit of volume while changing the exhaust sound due to the nature of the equal runner lengths and tubular design. Both modifications will improve response and power. We don't have a sound clip of our shop car with just our headers and sport cats, but we did make a one-off muffler delete setup with our headers and HJS 200-cell cats for test purposes. You can listen to some sound clips in the following thread.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions and congratulations on your car purchase!

i'm in a a similar position. My local dealer quoted me $7k for the PSE which is too much IMO. i heard the soul exhaust and it sounds good and is about $2.5k.. how much is the PSE at suncoast?

Thanks, so far i'm getting a wide variance in parts and labor for the pse install. I've been quoted 1600 to 2500 for labor. the pse parts, including the tips and button range between 3400 and 4400.

No dealer will install if parts purchased elsewhere, so i'm comparing both costs. I'm hoping I can get this done for 5k.

I spoke with their rep. Such a cool guy. Unfortunately, i'm in California and the cats aren't emissions legal and I'm don't want to deal with removing them for emission testing every two years. California is awful in this regard.

I did a sharwerkes X-pipe on my Carrera 4 and cannot say enough good things. My car is CPO, and in an admittedly over-abundance of caution, had it installed at the dealer. Sound is PSE like, as in always on, but with a lot more bark after 4000 rpm. No drone at all while cruising...best upgrade so far. Even cold start sounds better.

As long as it doesn’t throw cel and everything reads as normal, it will pass when they plug in to the obd2

Thanks, is your car a 991.1 or 991.2? I spoke with SW and they were more cautious with setting expectations. They said the turbo's much alot of the sound potential.

I'd say a muffler bypass would get you the sound, but add a drone that you won't like at all.

Before I got my car, I did a ton or research in case I didn't get a car with the Sport Exhaust option.
I liked Cargraphic for sure. It sounded really strong and not too obnoxious.
IPE will give you more sound than Cargraphic.
I thought Akropovic was a let down, especially for the price.

Thanks, I agree, Akp is premium and you shouldn't ever be disappointed at that price point.
