I just test drove a 2012 S but one thing that seemed odd was that it had no Sport + or sport exhaust button in the center console. The VIN states its a Carrera S and it even has the 911 Carrera S tag on the back. Here's a picture.

The "S" denotes the larger more powerful engine, but as the previous poster stated Sport Chrono and PSE are optional. In for a penny, in for a pound, most people order the cars with Sport Chrono once they've moved up to the "S", but some people do opt out.
Don't think I've ever seen an S without sport chrono - must be a super rare configuration, probably worth a fortune! Even more if it had a manual transmission.
Normal. Sport plus is a gimmick - you'd never use it. The transmission shifts are TOO aggressive for street and if you want to hold on to second gear to 70+ MPH just keep it in manual.
It is interesting the things people post. Sports plus does all sort of things including keeping the engine cooler and decreasing MPG. I never drive my car in anything but sports plus.

I think for track this is a good thing but I find that I enjoy spirited mountain driving much more in Sport. I guess without SC you do lose some dynamic hardware mounts but a little body movement isn't a bad thing.
my 17 C2s has a sport button but no sport+ button,,it does have the "shock" logo button and the PSE buttons,,,i use sport to reduce oil temps when around 220...or i want to hear the burble on deaccel...

The things I find you lose without Sport Chrono is an unsightly wart on the dash, extra vibration and a bill for $3K+ when the "active" motor mounts fail.
The PSE however is a must! (And can be retrofitted)
On a side note, I would advise a PPI in most cases and if it’s on a carmax lot like your photo suggests, I’d certainly recommend a thorough PPI. Good luck.
