Default 991.2 Sport cats install - remove muffler box or not?

Some day I’ll pull the trigger and order either soul or fabspeed sport cats.

When reading the install guide Soul created it has a step to remove the entire exhaust. The Fabspeed guide talks about just moving the tubes that connect the cats to the exhaust box over to the exhaust side of the tube and not removing the entire thing box.

Anybody done the Fabspeed method? Seems easier but those things can be snug on the tubes sometimes.

No. There is not much in the mufflers for the 991.2 so ok to keep. Somebody shared a cutaway here and with exhaust valves open, it is straight pipe.

And in accordance with APR, they saw no hp increase with muffler delete

oops, I was mostly referring to the install. Keeping it on while just swapping the cats or taking it all off.

but good information.

Drop the whole muffler. I couldn't imagine the installation with leaving it in place. Those slip joints can be a pain. Took me 3.5 hours and I was doing it for the first time.

Youre right.

I mixed up the header install with the cat install.
Exhaust off for cats, on for headers.

I totally agree, they are a bit snug, however you can actually get this system installed without loosening the center muffler. That being said, typically 10 min of extra work loosening the main bracket will save you a bit of wrestling with limited space! When we developed these products a few years back, we designed them to bolt right in, no CEL, and add substantial sound and power. Get a listen to the setup below and feel free to PM me for forum pricing!!

I dropped the muffler box doing my sport cat install. That’s the easiest part. No need to wrestle with it in the car when it is easily done on the shop floor.
