Question GTS or newer S?

I am about to jump from my 2011 C4S cabrio into a 2017 C2S cabrio. Perfect build, white with red and black interior, all the right options. Already put a deposit and will probably get the cat next week. BUT, today the same dealer puts online a 2015 GTS coupe, manual. Both are more or less the same price (GTS is 3K more) and CPO. The GTS shows a front damage in the Carfax.
The 2017 is at 35K miles and the GTS at 9K.

I am tempted by the GTS but concerned about the carfax hit.

What you guys think?

GTS - no question. Singularly because NA 3.8.

Polarizing opinions on this but for any 991 I would want the 991.1 vs the .2... Personal preference, drive both, etc. etc.

Carfax hit is always going to be there. Without it though, I would take the GTS all day. Great engine and I prefer coupes.

Go for the GTS.
See if you can find out about the carfax. I was able to find out mine was a simple bumper scrape and respray. If it is CPO then the damage shouldn't have been to extensive, but as always do you homework and avoid emotions.

I would go for the S
I upgraded from a 991.1S to a 991.2 S with sport package (aka includes rear axle steering!)

If you're going to go the cabrio route, then I think the 991.2 is the way to go. I think because of the extra weight in the cabrio, the added turbos in 991.2 S will make it more fun to drive.

GTS is always special model but given same price range, I would go with 991.2 (owned both 991.1 and 991.2). 991.2 is really a much better car for every day driving from 991.1 generations.
PCM update (faster, higher resolution and CarPlay) was worth it and optional LCA helps too. You're def. going to miss some sound but Turbo's power delivery makes it so much more relax and enjoyable in lower RPM.

I was debating between 992S and 991.2 GTS and chose to go with 991.2 GTS. Loved 992 PCM but feels too luxury (over sporty) and somewhat detached feel while driving so my pick was 991.2 GTS and prob. will update to once CPO 992 GTS is widely available.

I just re-read what you posted. Debating between perfect spec in the 991.2 S or some front damage in the 991.1 GTS. Definitely skip the front damaged car. Also if you've found a perfect spec, go for it!

I vote GTS but with the caveat that I would not go with that specific GTS due to the reported damage.

FWIW, about one year ago, I put my money where my keyboard is and bought a '15 GTS.

Take the .1 and .2 and S vs GTS out of the situation for a second. Don't you have a deposit on a cabriolet? Yeah, you want the open top. And you don't want the carfax hit. It will haunt you and cost you when it is time to sell.

Without knowing your personal preference I’d suggest to go with .2 as it will provide a more different experience/upgrade feel to your current c4s

Between these 2 specific cars, I’d get the 2017 even if the GTS was substantially cheaper. I wouldn’t wanna buy a car like this with known accidental damages.

That said, if your budget allows, I’d get a 991.2 GTS. Or you can find another 991.1 GTS. If the idea of getting a GTS is in your head now, you’ll probably be wondering a lot even after you get the C2S. Some people will want to get the .1 for the NA engine, but with more usable extra low-end torque, and the cabrio being a heavier car, personality I’d still go for the .2. But really, your wallet is the one that’d would do the only voting that matters.

GTS If you want to cruise. 991.2 if you're geared toward performance and wanting to extract performance.

Very different cars I would think. 17S lots of torque, and peppy for daily driver in the city -- 15GTS manual great for touring the backroads listening to that NA whine.

As for the carfax, I never know what to make of them. Many cars have damage that never gets reported to carfax, while others get reported for minor cosmetic damage. If it's got a CPO warranty and the car will align properly, you're almost certainly ok... to be sure get an independent PPI.

You said it: "Perfect build" - get the 2017 C2S Cab and add some high flow cats and don't look back, if you do you will see that GTS you passed on.
