I tried to submit this in another thread but had issues with the photo uploading. I hope I am not offending anyone, especially the member looking for this solution.
I was struggling with the small parcel shelf that you are left with when you fold the rear seat-backs down flat.
I decided to try an fill in the gaps with good quality dense foam. I visited a foam specialist as they had the proper tools to glue, layer and fit the foam. They did it while I watched! I believe the whole project cost around $225.
Here are some detailed shots of the foam that can be added/removed in minutes.
I have two seat cushions that are tapered to fit fully under the shelf and protrude to the front bucket seats. Connecting those two pieces of foam is another single/glued, formed joiner piece. It fits between the two lower foam pieces and raises up high enough to level off the whole back section.
Currently I have a generic seat cover that fits over everything back there, but intend to make a more substantial canvas/fabric piece that is form fitting. Instead of a thin parcel shelf that doesn't really work for me or my dog, I now have about 22" of usable depth. The dog loves it and has no complaints about going for long drives. She is 55lbs, so a medium to large dog. I have been using this system for about two years now. It is amazing how much "stuff" I can transport. As a bonus, I have the Targa roof that recedes to simplify loading. Who needs a SUV!
My 1988 911 Cab had lots of space for my cross-country drive in 2011. Packed the footwells with soft bags right up to the seats and put a blanket down. Sadly, Nellie passed a few years later, but the Cab is still with me.

Ice, that looks great. I have messed around trying to accomplish something similar, but not with such good results. Joy rides are more fun if the pooches can come along, although mine prefer to ride shotgun and jump in front if they can.

The two(2) dense foam seat cushion sections are pretty strong, and since the majority of them are wedged between the rear seat bottoms and the shelf-back folded down on them... it is pretty secure and doesn't move. The third and final center piece that goes from left to right... fills in the center tunnel void as well as brings the height up to match the parcel shelf. I have pushed down on it with my hand and it doesn't move. My dog has never dislodged this setup, nor has she felt compelled to move into the front seats. It actually looks pretty comfortable back there! As a bonus, I still have room on the floor behind my seat to put gear. The foam just fills in the absolute minimal amount of real estate.
If anyone has any thoughts on how to finish this section off... (carpeting with acid green banding?) ... please chime in. Cheers!

There are basically two identical seat filler cushions, and a single glued top cushion.
It is easy to pull in and out, as well as to store. I plan to get some automotive carpeting and to use cardboard to make a template. After I cut it out, I will bring it back to the carpeting supplier to have the edges "banded".
Stellar. Girlfriend's got a cocker spaniel that we'll need to transport cross country as soon as the 'rona shenaniganry is over with. I'll have to futz around with an idea like this.
One hangup I have is getting the dog in and out of the car without marring up the sides of the seat or interior trim.

Both compartments are lighted with LED's that work when you open the doors. The two tubes on either side hold small umbrellas. My car has the mahogany wood trim option so I'm trying to match the trim. The center consul is out of a GT2RS, and I still need to get it covered in leather to match the little doors. It's still a work in progress and I still have a ways to go to be complete.
