Wow, not one, but two 991 buy backs.... Guess he would have some strong opinions on the reliably of the model, but it also sounds like he had "struck by lightning" levels of bad luck with those two cars..
Interesting to watch his video evolution on the cars...

I've had my CPO '17 poverty-spec C2 for almost exactly one year now.
Expenses (besides fuel) have been $200 for service (most of which was the $92 DIY oil and filter change, and a set of wipers) and $2,100 for a set of MP4S and alignment at the dealer. Driven the car approx 8k miles. Went to the dealer one time unscheduled, for a tank vent sensor callout. That part was replaced / covered N/C by the warranty. Otherwise zero issues. Currently at 27,xxx miles.

Truth be told, I am not worried about my night vision or lane keep assist failing as much as a catastrophic engine failure though.

This seems to be one of the engine greats. Many fear Pdk issues, me included. I know the odds are against pdk issues however I’ve successfully destroyed every non-manual transmission I’ve owned except for the current 911. One year warranty remaining so thinking of calling the Jackson guy I believe it is. I have been more kind to this pdk than the previous.

Not high mileage at between 13 and 14K miles. Car is 4 years old. Got one of the early 2017 models. C2s. Had the water pump replaced before it failed. Also had a coolant reservoir replaced due to a crack and minor coolant leak. Otherwise no issues. I did have a squeaking strut that was fixed under warranty. In the past I would get random front lift error messages but those have gone away. Just finished a week long road trip with zero problems and lots of fun. I plan on keeping the car long term. Warranty ends in August after Porsche extended it a bit due to pandemic. Not planning on getting an extended warranty. If PDK fails it won't be pretty financially but I can afford it.

I was putting on miles at quite a clip until the pandemic... picked up my CPO base 2017 in Jan of 2019 with 23k on it. Have 53k on it now.
Here’s what’s gone wrong:
Not perfect, but the loaner experience has been pretty solid. Now if I could just get them to budge on a Spyder allocation. Apparently all my cash for service hasn’t been enough to earn their love even after a fair amount of time wasted due to their mistakes.
Still love the car and will likely just keep it and add another as the trade value is just not worth it compared to what this car is worth to me.

Here’s what’s gone wrong:
- water pump went and took a while for them to get the system happy and not running too hot with the replacement.
- engine cover struts replaced
- DME replaced due to engine fan malfunction. This required the car to be at the dealership for two weeks and lots of back and forth with Germany.
- three tires picked up nails - all replaced under a tire and wheel warranty I picked up on a whim. These are very negotiable!
- washer sprayer line split. Replaced by Porsche of Colorado Springs as I drove through on an 8,400 mile road trip. They were awesome!

I am close to 100,000km in my 991.2 C2. Biggest issue was getting caught in a hailstorm, but Porsche fixed that & insurance paid, so you cannot tell. I did have a valve(?) fail in the heating line, which basically meant I had no heating in the car...not normally an issue here in Africa, but it was the middle of winter and I was 2km high... Bought the car from new, to my spec, and use it as a daily driver, which can range from long haul, on long straight roads, with active cruise control set for hours on end, to “spirited drives” over mountain passes. Rear tyres last me around 20,000km, which possibly describes my driving...I am sure others, using their cars only on high days and holidays will get through rubber much quicker.
Other than the hail and heating...this has been a bullet proof car. Amazing car. During the first part of this awful Corona virus it had to sit untouched for 8 weeks, and started immediately. I do let it warm up properly before giving it the beans, and similarly, let it cool down a bit if I have been ragging it along. Love this car, certainly a keeper.

'19 C4S, 12k miles, no issues. Replaced rears at that mileage due to a nail and inner wear.
Engine revs easily, feels smoother and looser, as does the shifter.
Mine is not too complex, only what I wanted, does have the Sport Package.

My 991.1 was sold with 58K miles. I didn't own it too long and from paperwork it doesn't seem to have required much. I fixed or replaced a bunch of cosmetic things from a prior owner who clearly abused it, thus my online name: carpet, shifter ****, door pocket door, sill trim, sunroof trim, made new clock min/hour hands, leather redye, paint correction.... It was up for new rotors which were scored from the perforated hole design and squeaking but that's a consumable. Both that car and my current 991.2 have had squeaky door limiters. The dealer replaced them n/c under warranty this time (worth asking if you're still under warranty) as the part number and design is updated. Overall, if cared for I too believe the 991 is a reliable design.

So my reply is above saying 53k and 3 tires with nails, make that 54,277 and four tires. Picked one another up yesterday. Now to decide if I replace or repair. If I didn’t have insurance, I’d repair definitely, but there’s the downtime aspect.
These cars, at least when driven by this chucklehead, are magnets for nails like no car I’ve had before. You’ll still have to ply it from my cold dead hands though...

Definitely not high mileage but 16K on my '18 GTS. Purchased it with 2 and did the rest in my first year of ownership including track time at Sonoma. Not so much as a hiccup. Consumables and service. That's it. No squeaks or rattles. Car is good at everything including carting around my bike and my dog.

62K on my Targa. Lots of rattle issues that have been resolved over time. Changeover valve fault that took a couple of visits to sort out. Otherwise...nothing major!
I'm pretty happy with it.
