#107
Hi i just ran across your post. great info i'm looking to up grade my .1 to .2 rear bumper , You mentioned about some screw locations missing. did you just tap into the body with the new hole locations, or did you just use the locations that lined up? is that bumper part # a OEM part number?
anything else i need to know to search out the body parts?
Thanks
anything else i need to know to search out the body parts?
Thanks

Adding a pic for reference of some of the screws that work (circles) and some that do not align (arrows). But like Andrew said, the bumper is secure and solid.. no need to tap additional screws into the body.

This is really bad English translation so I can’t tell for sure if it’s what I think it is:
991.2 tail lights for 991.1 bumper???
if so that would make me happy and avoid the whole bumper replacement. You guys who did the conversion (and have seen both parts) - from looking at this site, does it look like the unicorn 991.2 light “style” that fits the existing 991.1 bumper ? Could it be?

Even if it is a set of 991.2 style tail lights that fit on the 991.1.. it’s almost $2000 just for lights! A brand new set of OEM 991.2 tail lights is like $900 and I’m sure you’ll find used ones for much less. Same story for the bumper. For $2000 you should be able to source all necessary parts used, easily. My main gripe with aftermarket tail lights is brightness - very few of them are as bright as OEM. The listing didn’t even have pictures showing the various lighting modes. I like the 991.2 lights and might do the mod for my car some day - and I’d stick to the OEM route because it’ll be cheaper and I know the quality will be good.

I looked at the AliExpress link again - this time not from my tiny phone screen.
One of the pictures in the lower detailed description section of the listing ("View More") shows the bumper as well - either primed or with just gel coat.
So it might be that the kit comes with lights + bumper (price sorta makes slightly more sense now) => but this is only more ridiculous than the other details in the listing that say that the parts go in the front of the car
They also say that they use original parts => So are the lights OEM then? Which means you're basically buying an aftermarket bumper!
If you are anyway going to get a bumper + lights that are tailored for that bumper, why not full OEM?
OP, If you are genuinely interested in it, you should reach out to them to clarify what the kit contains.

Much thanks to Maik 123 and Polibai, I don't think I could've done it if it wasn't for the nice writeup and pics. I did the swap on my 991.1 4S but it didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. The middle light bar not coming on was driving me mad till I read your post. There are a few other things I encountered doing the swap that needs to be mentioned....First, the 991.2 bumper has bigger receptacles for the parking sensors, so my sensor did not snap in the new bumper, they were loose, so I had to swap the receptacles from my old bumper and pot them in. The second issue the middle light bar from 991.2 has 2 tabs on it that would need to be trimmed in order to make it fit on the car, otherwise the 2 plastic tabs will prevent the it from sitting flush. (And of course as previously mentioned the new 991.2 light bar runs on 12v instead of 5v). The last thing I like to mention is that the lights have 2 screws each but only one lines up with the 991.1 body...I know a lot of people are opting to secure it with only the one but it would be a lot better to just pick up the second hole on the top of the spoiler and drill a hole to secure the light properly.
PS: Btw, does anyone think we can use a 5v to 12v step-up converter to make the lightbar work? They're readily available on amazon.

I'm stuck......can someone please help me. I did the bumper upgrade on my 2013 4S and all went well, except I can't get the middle light to stay on. I followed the directions to tap into the license plate light circuit due to the new 991.2 light bar operates on 12v rather than 5v like the old lightbar. However, I can get the light to stay on if I disconnect the right license plate light, but with both connected I get an error and the circuit immediately shuts off. I connected the 2 outside wires on the pigtail to the 12v power source on the left license light and the middle brown wire to the brown wire of the left license lights as directed here, not sure what's the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Again, thanks very much polobai...I swapped the old license plate light in place of the right and it worked.....so there was an issue with the right license light. I think it's solved now but it was a journey. Thank you!

I’m going to attempt this bumper upgrade. I’ve bought a 991.2 c4s bumper and I’m going to fit it to a 991.1 c2s. I’ve read the bumper fits 90% it just needs a push. I’m purchasing the 3 connectors you linked so thanks for that. Any other tips before I try this. Hoping it works out as I’m £1200 in already 😬

@Maik 123 Is there any chance you have the part number of your new bumper cover? I need this exact one, wide euro plate mount and all, for my GTS. I have numbers for a direct replacement of mine but not for the .2.
Looks amazing btw, great job.
