Would be the perfect time to do the intercoolers as everything is apart.

Your right about that-but spent too much money on this thing over the past month or so. Gotta take a break before my wife takes a break from me

How much oil was in the compressor inlet to the turbo?

Bah, you could do it! As with anything, having the right tools makes everything easier. I saw your sub enclosure

zip. I run the prototype vector air/oil separator.

Here’s a pic of the turbo inlet showing the lack of oil due to the air/oil separator

One side done-did have to trim the intercooler cage a bit to have the pipe sit properly. No big deal and does not impact the integrity of anything and stock pipe goes back with no issue.

One side done!

Where I trimmed (top part of hole that the inlet passes through)

Silly question, but is there any chance that the tile pipe gets hot enough to melt anything If it rubs/touches the intercooler plastic cage?
One would think with all the R&D that Tile could have made the bend slightly different to avoid having to cut anything..

On a side note, looks good and nice work.

Is there any possibility to have 'less overlap' with the coupler and the pipe to allow the bend to be further away from that piece of plastic to avoid cutting it?

I have a " while you are in there " question. The plastic intercooler ducts that are on top and bottom of the intercooler. How precise it the seal between the intercooler and plastic dusts? Are they loose, any air gaps? I was thinking of running some 1/4 in foam tape around the perimeter of the ducting to make a tight seal and hopefully improve air flow thought the intercoolers when I do my install..

The Tial pipes are for the coldest part of the turbo system (air intake), they shouldn't get hot unless they are picking up heat from the surrounding area, and even than, only warm. Aluminum piping dissipates heat quickly.

The 'cold' side piping should always be cold. Not ambient cold, but cold enough that you can touch it during a hard pull.

On my Subaru and RX-7 you can easily grab the 'cold side' piping to the throttle body with your hand after a hard pull.

The 'hot side' is a different story. I wouldn't be willing to grab the hot side pipe, but it would still not be hot enough to melt anything.

The exhaust pipe into the turbo and out are not recommended to touch. haha

Looks like mandrel bent aluminum tube. It's probably bent as tight as it can without deforming the aluminum and causing cracking. With cheap steel exhaust systems, you'll see the old school crush bent systems where the inner radius is rippled/crushed. Aluminum won't ripple like the steel will though, it'd likely just crack. Not good for flow either

Good question-they are not sealed by any means-but pretty well on there. I did remove my upper duct and cleaned out all the leafs and debris while in there. Foam is not a bad idea...I dont know if there is much of a gap to fill though. I will try to get a pic when I take the other side off. What I do want to do is construct a mesh grill to go over the intercooler inlet tubes (the rectangular plastic ones) to avoid debris getting in there and clogging things up as there were quite a bit of leafs in there.

There is, however the couplers will not line up...Tial made me aware of the area to cut when I inquired about the inlets. Its because of the size difference of the pipe compared to stock. Not a big deal-literally less than a minute with the dremal and no impact if you need to put the stock pipes back in.
