Yes - that what we're finding up here in Vancouver, BC. Same thing. Crime is down so they are pulling anything they can. WAZE + Radar = the best, IM).

One upside to the empty roads is it's easier to watch for cops and adjust accordingly. That said I haven't noticed much of a police presence.

Is anyone worried about the perception of driving a nice car in the current environment? We're getting hammered from every possible angle right now - our health, our economy, our freedom. It's pretty scary for the average person and if the unemployment rate hits 20% as many of us believe it will, you've got to think there are going to be a lot of salty people out there.
With Western Canadian Select at $10/barrel and WTI where it is at Alberta is screwed.

Was speaking with one of the largest steel building manufacturers in Alberta and he is talking of shuttering/mothballing as contracts left and right are being put on hold.
Likewise, two of my neighbors (one in property management, owns over 30 buildings/warehouses) has 50% of his tenants saying they will be either breaking contract/unable to make rent or closing up shop, and the other (in Oil (obviously, with over 100 employees) is looking at shuttering.

These 3 guys who are proper rich (over 250 employees between them) are feeling the pinch in Alberta, with no end in sight. Their big concern is that they will survive this, but letting 250 people go will result in most of those employees not being able to survive financially. Many are over extended (nobodies fault but there own) but this has big ramifications.

We don't see this improving for the next few years at best.

Only good thing is that toys / vacation homes will be coming up on the market over the next few years. And great value stocks are available

Thankfully I am not planning on retiring for a while.

With regards to people looking at your car sideways (in jealousy or anger), that thought isn't lost on me. Not uncommon to have a 'rig pig' express their opinion on the Ring Road, or on the QEII.

just being honest here. ‘Low’ Triple digits in a 991 is really not risky at all. I’m not promoting reckless driving that lands someone in trouble but on an empty highway you would barely feel 100 mph these cars are so stable at speed.

100mph in a 991 = 75 mph in your SUV

I've been fortunate to experience the 911 on the autobahn. 100 mph is a non-event. Stable, controllable and you feel like the car is just getting started.

I still remember driving around Northern VA on 9/11/2001 around 11am, essentially no speed limit. Dulles access road was like something from mad max. Those were some crazy times, not sure if this is going to get crazier, but the potential sure exists.

I thought the same thing! When your "low vis" or "normal" car is still a Porsche.

So if 75 in a SUV = 100 in a 991, I'll be ok. I'll be driving a Mercedes SUV (GLE 450) So my 90/95mph in it =120/125 in a 991

I got pulled over on Scottsdale road yesterday afternoon in the 911. 60 in a 45. He came up from behind with lights on. I rolled down window and pointed to next residential turn off. Turned off Scottsdale road and immediately pulled over. He asked if I knew why I was being pulled over. I said yes I was speeding and I apologized for putting him at risk. He asked for my license and would not touch it but got just close enough to verify it was me. He said no ticket just slow down. He could not have been nicer and it certainly helps when you apologize up front since we both knew I was speeding.

It too easy to speed right now as the roads are relatively empty.

It's crazy here in Alberta. We're getting it from every possible angle. Fortunately, I'm not in O&G, but even still I've spent the past 10 days non-stop reviewing our operations top to bottom, finding efficiencies. My goal is to not lay off anyone, that'll be the last step.

This is why something like an AP1 s2000 can be so special, and why I want one. 50 mph feels like 70 or 80.

I miss my S2000's almost every day. I had an AP1 and an AP2, both were incredible cars! That said, they've held their value too well. I'd be more inclined to go with a well-sorted example of an early Boxster or Cayman for similar cash.
