Matte Black being installed last spring. PITA to keep clean, but when it is ! Had them add the stripes today to do something a little different.

I might have something to contribute later this year. Turns out one of my best friends has a massive talent for wrapping cars. He used his own personal vehicle to "learn" on and it ended up coming out amazingly well. I'd love to wrap mine as the guards red is probably my least-favourite part of the car. The appeal is that all I'd have to pay for is the material.

Threadjack, does anyone have a lead on those destressed motorsports wraps? The aged looking ones in the style of race livery, post race? Ive searched a bunch and never turned up a product or service available to the public.

I saw one at the Porsche Swap Meet at Hershey PA two years ago on a GT4, with modern Porsche racing livery. It looked amazing!

I love that look also. Im thinking a reputable wrap installer will have custom wraps/graphics they can get their hands on. My installer claims they can bring just about any custom design to life. Here’s one I fell in love with at the Canadian Grand Prix a couple years ago. They’re out there somewhere...

I had mine done in May 2018. Front of car is PPF over wrap thus it is a little more glossy. This is Dragon Fire red. I’m looking at doing a blue in next year or two. I’m very **** and have a side detailing business where I exclusively do Porsche’s so having a wrap let’s me not care when I see swirl marks on my car. It is a sad sickness to have 😀 but great for my customers.

Mine is black...I left the side views and top original, they are PPF'd though to protect.

How long does a wrap typically last? I know there are variables but generally speaking. Also, rough cost?

Manufacturers state around 4-6 years if well maintained. Having it installed by a certified installers comes with 3 year warranty (at least for 3M in my case).

I received quotes from $2,400 to $6,000 depending on the market and thoroughness of the job (removing bumpers, doing door jambs, etc). I paid $2,400 for mine as I know I’ll want to change up more frequently.

A well installed wrap that is also protected by PPF in areas susceptible to damage can last many years depending on your driving conditions. For instance my car is garaged and driven in fair weather and not in traffic.
I’ve seen wraps without PPF driven in winter only last a year. Wraps are not very tough when hit with sand ice and gravel.
