From what I am reading, Cobb's latest stage I tune seems to be a bit vanilla. If that is what it needs to be to keep things happy and safe so be it but when I read reviews of other tunes things seem much more rip snorting fun.

As far as I know you can return it if you are not satisfied, and if it helps I have no intentions of doing so. However, if one has a PDK they should get feedback from those owners that have tried it as I have a manual.

At the moment, I think the Cobb access port is a great platform. APR is a non starter for me at present since I cannot deal with relying on a third party shop to flash my car however I like the reviews and the engineering that they claim has gone into it. If APR offered a home install version, I would probably go in that direction at the moment. I have till spring to decide as the car is in storage for the winter.

Whether the canned tune that Cobb provides is optimum is to be seen. Plenty of Porsche tuners offer their own tune.

I really wish a COBB tuning vendor would step up and back their pro tune with a ton of data, testing, etc.

Bob Z - remind us, is your MT a 991.1 or 991.2? I’ve read the entire thread, but save me from trying to find it again. Thx.

Ha. Well the other thing I just thought of is the other thread this week regarding someone who installed the Cobb tune but was not hitting boost targets. (Boost only marginally increased
/car slightly quicker over stock). He suspected a boost leak that was undiagnosed while stock.

i wonder if there is a link here.

Default Can the same AP be used with multiple cars?

If I use the AP to install the flash on a 991.2 Base can I then install the flash on a 718 GTS or do you need two sep units? Also people who are selling “used” units how does that work? You download latest firmware and install on the car? So basically the flash stays with the AP and anyone can use it? Are they model - car specific? Thanks.

You can only use a single AP on a single car (model is specific to the AP, i.e. 991.2 or a cayman or a Golf etc).

You have to unmarry (unlink / remove the tune from an ECU) the AP (now used) and only then can you use it on another vehicle.

AP can only be used to load a tune on one vehicle, unmarry (remove the tune from Car 'A') and then you can use another vehicle (load a tune on to Car 'B').

Some tuners allow you to buy a second license for another vehicle at a discount so check with them.

There is different fimware for the 991.2 and the 718.

Firmware AP3-POR-010 for the 718 and firmware AP3-POR-011 for the 991.2. Although they are both loaded onto the AP3, I'd imagine COBB would be the only ones to swap the firmware.for a

If you are looking for a AP3-POR-011, I how one for sale that is unmarried from my 991.2 and has the latest firmware update which allows you to install at home. $1295 shipped.

COBB Tuning Team

Can the 991.1 Stage 2 maps still be downloaded or purchased or is pro tuning the only option at this point. Looking to add some headers on top of the stage 1 93 tune.
