Looks like a very simple (to install) and functional mod - I'll be in line to purchase once released! Very curious to see what my turbo inlet looks like - I know from this thread that a little bit of oil is within spec but that seems crazy given how these cars were built to be flogged.

Im still waiting to get my hands on one of these, as my right side turbo becomes an auxiliary oil pump.

Straight on _ Easy

Modding the pipe

My Race mechanic is a huge pain in the A$$. But he is very good. One side fits perfect. Less than five min job.

Buy my guy isn't happy unless everything is 100% perfect and can withstand 300Mph speeds in hurricanes with your hair on fire. You get the idea. He is changing the pipe to relocate the valve, so it has more room, INCASE something could rub in one of those Hurricanes at 300Mph.

The valve is quite long when you pull it out. There isn't a lot of room on that side. So he is getting a "U" shaped hose and putting the valve on the other side of the inlet so it has more room and won't ever rub.
Possibly due to his over paranoia. But again, he makes everything bullet proof in all conditions.

He liked the inlets. He just never liked the length of hose and where that would locate the valve. Very minor adjustment to keep him happy.

^ Sounds like a great resource to have! Nothing wrong with taking extra precautions

That valve is a pain in the *** for sure. Next version already has plans to be a wee bit shorter, but unfortunately there's only so much shrinking you can do before it will start affecting flow functionality.

Looking forward to hearing how they perform for you.

Done

A bit of customisation and my race mechanic is happy.

On a side note, i also fitted new turbosmart bov’s. When we tested the factory ones, one if them was leaking boost. Factory ones are prone to fail, especially when tuned.

Nice! How do the turbo smart blow off valves sound? Did you ever get the dyno results the other day from the AOS?

Sorry for any confusion. I don’t have the AOS.

I only have the turbo inlet pipes.

i should get a chance to dyno the car again today to see in the Turbo inlet pipes added any power.

I only drove a short way home last night in heavy traffic, so i didn’t get a chance to get on boost and hear anything as yet.

i did use the blanking plate to replace the trumpet, so i don’t sound like a WRX. I should get some chirpie birds at the track.

Got it. Sound like your blow off valve can partially vent to atmosphere and you have it set to full recirculating right?

Awesome. I am planning to run Dual hks ssqv4 bovs and recirculating them as well (hoping for more sound). Curious to see how you like the turbosmart units.

Stronger spring so they can hold more boost. I was shocked to find one of the factory ones had failed. They are the diaphragm type.
TurboSmart are piston type.

So no additional sound from the turbosmart in full recirculation mode?

Busted BOV will definitely mess up your performance! Those OEM Bosch ones will pretty much fail on any car over time. Especially on tuned cars. Have seen it happen across many platforms they are used on.

Which one of the TurboSmart bov's did you order. Seems like they really don't have a specific one for the 991.2 I need to order a set.
