Ticking Noise From New 991.2?
Hello All-
I have a 4 month old 2019 Carrera base with manual transmission and about 2500 miles. There is a ticking noise from motor that disappears when motor warms up. Its been going on for a while, not sure if since I took delivery or not. Tech at local Porsche dealer, where I bought car, says it's probably nothing and that these motors tend to be noisy anyway but if I want, bring it in and they will check it out. If I bring it in I guess I'm going to have to leave it overnight so they can check it in morning when motor is cold. I'd rather not do that if it's nothing to be concerned about.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Bob

Normal.
You could always go over to the dealership, and cold-start a comp car in a similar acoustical setting, and compare.
The DFI motor is not quiet.
With mileage, they settle down. Different oil selections (viscosity and brand) also make improvements.

Per LexVan, normal and discussed plenty here.
that being said, I had start up ticking with Mobil 0W40 and 5W50. I know use Liqui Moly 5W40 a A40 and a Porsche approved oil. 6k miles on the car.
I can say, no more ticking at start up.
I purchased this kit kit and brought to dealer and they used it on my T except the plug.

Someone explain to me where exactly the ticking comes from. I thought they were the injectors, unless there is a real problem with the car. If by changing the oil type/brand, why would ticking go away? Makes me wonder what actually is ticking.

My Carrera T ticks as well when cold and also seems to do it around 3,000 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear. I’ve heard it’s lifter noise. It’s probably more obvious on the T because of the reduced sound deadening material in the car. That said, I notice it less now that I’ve done the first oil change and went to Pennzoil 5W40.

Just make sure you don't run the car hard until the engine comes up to temperature. Let the engine warm up and the ticking noise will subside.

I came across this article while researching the ticking sound: https://nnjr-pca.com/9a1-engine/
Here is the author's conclusion: "Keep the RPMs under 3k until the engine warms up, which does not take long. Note: slow drives at low RPM are an unhealthy diet for this engine. Burn good fuel and drive hard. That is what this engine needs and loves."

It might be the EVAP valve which I tracked it down with a stethoscope :
