Soak the new tether in boiling water. Then slip over the pin.

Here's mine on my black metallic 992. Also fits on my wife's 2020 Macan S.

Only with Porsche do I now have to worry about getting the most up to date gas cap!

So far she hasn't bought it.

Sure enough the box from Suncoast says Made in Germany. That should settle the debate that the China eBay ones are in fact not made at the same place the genuine ones are.

Unless the Chinese counterfeit gas cap cartels have caught on and are now printing labels to make us think that they are made in Germany when they are actually still made in China and they have infiltrated the OEM supply system.

If Porsche says it, it must be true. Harley makes parts in Taiwan. Porsche makes plastic stuff in China. It's been compared side by side by other members that bought both and they are the same.

You don't think these companies hide their country of origin? Come work in my business. Happens all the time.

Compared the boxes side by side. The packing. Instructions. Same thing. If Porsche left them labeled as Made in China you may not be as willing to cough up $139 retail.

It's literally a different gas cap that looks very similar (Not saying it is a bad part). Yes they knock off the part labels, the instruction sheet etc. That is the easiest part of the counterfeit process.

Post a few detailed photos of the bottom (white side) of your gas cap and I will show you how it's a different part.

Watch this video for people who think just because it "has a Porsche sticker on the box" it must be real.

Default Newly released

https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/sku9x1g2cap.html

Quite cheap and an excellent alternative to the eBay knock off’s. Not as fancy as the black and stainless cap that was posted recently.

Hmm. I think the ebay knock offs looks a ton better.

Personally, I think the plain cheap plastic OEM one looks better than this one from Suncoast.

Guys/Gals:

Just always remember to cross torque the set screws, and the torque spec is a low-low 7 ft.lbs due to the plastic:

(OK, a total hack from the 992 Forum...........)

haha... true. I am a Porsche ***** too, I got the new aluminum and black sport cap. On back order until later this month, but should get soon. I never thought I'd ever spend more than $25 from Autozone for a gas cap... and now blew over $150 for one.
