991.2 Alarm chirps!
Can anyone please explain to me why my car alarm chips change from single to double beeps?
Sometimes I get out of my car fully locked up and it will single chirp to ARM.
Sometimes I get out of my car fully locked up and it will double chirp to ARM.
Someone told me its telling me something is open. So I make sure all windows are up. Glass roof is fully closed. E Brake is ON. Lights are off. All lids, doors, etc are closed and I STILL get single or double chirps.
I only use the keyfob. And I am not doing anything out of ordinary. I simply turn off the car, open the door, walk out, and arm the car via the keyfob and depending on my cars mood, I will get single or double chips to arm.
So what am I doing wrong?
TIA!

Double chirp arms the alarm.
Single chirp just locks.
I usually keep hitting lock till double chirp.

My 991.2 with auto entry & drive is pretty random with the clicks, but the lights flashing corresponds with how it is supposed to respond regardless of clicks. I get the double flash of the emergency lights on the first press regardless of the number of clicks, and a long flash if I do the second press within 5 seconds. Bottom line, the clicks don't work as described in the manual, but the light flashing works as described in the manual. I had this looked at while in for service, and the dealer couldn't find anything wrong to explain the clicking inconsistencies. With nothing to point in a direction to T/S, I decided I was better off living with it than risking opening a can of worms.

I'm even more confused now.
How many beeps is lock if I press lock ONCE on the keyfob once I get out of my car? One beep right?
I know if I press lock once, and once again within 5 seconds, I can deactivate the interior sensor. But lets leave that out for now.
I just dont understand why my car will lock/arm itself with either a single or double beep on ONE keyfob lock press. Im not pressing it twice. I press it once and I either get single beep or dual beep. What does this mean???

my 2019 991.2 is like yours from what I can tell. When I walk up to my car to unlock, I get one beep and one flash.
When I lock my car I sometimes get one beep with two flashes or I get dual beep with two flashes.
I just dont know what the single beep means on lock.

I'm with you BIGWORM - mine does the same when locking.

My '18 991.2 GTS does the same thing Bigworm. The manual says to lock the door, press "lock" once and you'll get two light flashes and two acoustic signals. Sometimes I'll get one...go figure.

Mine also does this and I've seen several threads on the topic with no real satisfying answer. It seems that this function performs much the way our parking sensors do...randomly going off as one slows at a stoplight. Porsche makes great driving cars but seem to have issues with "fancy" electronics.

Mine does the same. One other annoyance is the fan/airconditioner turning on every time I start the car. Few of the quirks of this car but I can live with it, though I often wonder if this beast will give me electrical problems later down the road. hmmm...

And I think it's the "chirper" that is stuck or delayed in BEEPS. Because when I single press lock, I always get TWO flashes. ANd the random single chirp sometimes sounds like the ending of the double chirp if that makes sense. Its like by the time the chirper gets the signal to sound off, its already on the 2nd chirp and we only hear that Im guessing.
Thats my guess.
