I think the 991.1 when in manual mode, sport plus, and shocks on stiff gives plenty of roughness/raw feel with the benefit of being able to go through 3 or 4 gears before you get too out of hand. Sound at redline is awesome with PSE on.
That as a (former) owner of 991.1 NA MT GTS I completely agree with. Plenty- true. However, there are some rougher cars Does not mean they are better though
Unfortunately the weather went back to normal here, no more 80*s....
So, after 2 weeks of flogging my 996 turbo, I'm stuck back in 991 with all it's inherent drawbacks from the pleasure of driving.
I like seat cooling and my Pandora on the BT stereo, but all the other gizmos and electronic distractions are much more annoying after being away from them for a while.
The engine sound is awesome, but I have to press a button for that. The suspension is great, but I have to press a button or two for that too. The cockpit is comfy, but it has like 18 buttons on just the seat(18-way, I know)...
Not bashing the new stuff, and mine isn't even new, but I think if you really like just driving, there should be less settings and BS to mess with/distract you.
Somehow a couple levers between the seats for heat/AC, one TC on/off button on the dash, and 2 way buckets could be an advancement from where we are now.
A 78sc weighs like 2,600#, 992 is 3400# with much more advanced materials/composites to work with, essentially 1000# of BS, ok 900 if you appreciate airbags like me.
I'd love to strip my 991s and see what it gets down to, anyone already done this?

Man, I'm with you. Maybe I'll go buy the cheapest 991 C2S I can find this summer and strip the hell out of it within an inch of its life and see what we got! Great idea!!

Glad you recognized the humor, all the electronics/features in my buddies new 5 series I drove to lunch Friday make the 991 seem rudimentary, he hasn't even bothered to figure out half the crap it does yet.
Funny you mention the pig too, a 991 turbo weighs only 100# more than a 996 turbo, 991 is only 3 inches longer, 2 inches wider, and same height.
When parked next to my buddies 991 turbo, it's clear how similar they are in size but the body design and 20/21" wheels certainly make it appear larger than it is.
