Had to get back in 991...bummer

Unfortunately the weather went back to normal here, no more 80*s....
So, after 2 weeks of flogging my 996 turbo, I'm stuck back in 991 with all it's inherent drawbacks from the pleasure of driving.
I like seat cooling and my Pandora on the BT stereo, but all the other gizmos and electronic distractions are much more annoying after being away from them for a while.
The engine sound is awesome, but I have to press a button for that. The suspension is great, but I have to press a button or two for that too. The cockpit is comfy, but it has like 18 buttons on just the seat(18-way, I know)...
Not bashing the new stuff, and mine isn't even new, but I think if you really like just driving, there should be less settings and BS to mess with/distract you.
Somehow a couple levers between the seats for heat/AC, one TC on/off button on the dash, and 2 way buckets could be an advancement from where we are now.
A 78sc weighs like 2,600#, 992 is 3400# with much more advanced materials/composites to work with, essentially 1000# of BS, ok 900 if you appreciate airbags like me.
I'd love to strip my 991s and see what it gets down to, anyone already done this?

Sorry to hear you are not happy with your 991, I absolutely love mine.

I took it to be a facetious post. If not, a rather bad commentary.

Holy **** you are in my brain mate! This is exactly how I feel about my 991 C2S, coming out of a 997. I drove a 993 not long ago and couldn't believe the amount of feedback and feeling, so much visceral than my 991.

I've come from a 981 Cayman GTS. The 991.2 has definitely lost something in terms of soul - it's stupidly fast, but more isolated than the Cayman. The steering feel isn't quite the same, and the exhaust sound is wildly disappointing compared to the GTS. That said, I still love the car!

Well if it makes you so unhappy just sell it.

Sorry for your loss of driving pleasure, may he find peace.

Complains about having two 911's...

I have a very stiff and mechanical 987. Its a very different experience than my 991 but I would never say one is better or that my 991 is boring.

Even worse is pepper flakes bigger than the shaker holes. Some places really control their spice.

You can always give it to me, I'll gladly take a 991 that someone doesn't want or complain about I'll give it the proper laps it needs and attention. :roflmao:

Am I the only one who wants to know why the OP’s 996 doesn’t work when it’s warm out?

I knew 996s had issues but I didn’t think a need for refrigerated storage was one of them.

LargePuppy 05-16-2019 02:14 PM

After we're done with the snarky comments regarding his 991 - then we'll start with the next batch :D

He does live in Seattle...

Perhaps I should have left off "bummer" in the title, I enjoy driving the 991, just was thinking about all the extras that don't necessarily contribute to driving pleasure/enjoyment for me as much as some others.

The sound at 7500rpm makes me happy and I take this road to work many days for the sheer reason it exists and only takes a few extra minutes

It works great when warm or hot, even better when cold, just doesn't like the rain when on NT-01's with the PSM unplugged at the ABS pump.
