Actually I'm envious you get to choose between two great options.

Sell your current 991 and get a 991 Carrera T with the base seats and relatively few options. Problem solved.

Sounds like a call to Singer is in order.

Sell the 991 and buy a Caterham Seven 620. You obviously are troubled by contemporary features. Why not go all the way? You should be happy with side curtains, instead of overly complicated roll-up windows. (It does have 0-60 times less than 3.0 seconds)

@911mhawk, I'm curious, 991.1 or .2? Not that it's terribly relevant to the simplicity vs. engineered solutions theme of your first post.

I usually have very different 991 experience, however there are days (in traffic or whatever) when I feel I miss some down to road *** roughness..then it is when I take out my 22+ y.o. NA miata

LWBs and rear seat delete —>100lbs
lithium battery—> 40lbs
titanium exhaust—>20-50lbs
magnesium wheels—>30lbs
PCCB—>30lbs
sunroof delete—>??
AC delete—>30lbs
Radio delete—>15lbs
carbon fiber hood, fenders etc.
airbags delete
cup door panels
Carpet delete
soundproofing delete

How far do you want to go?

Trade it in on a stripper GT3 no FAL and start at the top of the list above.

As as former lotus owner, I love lightweight cars. Caterham was fun, but calling one a car is a stretch.

And if your 996 turbo is not stripped out and running 2wd, it’s not exactly a lightweight.

I feel horrible for you man. What a drag to have to drive a modern Porsche. I hope you can find the strength to persevere.

I looked at one last week @local dealer, however I was sidetracked by the 2011 & 2015 GT3s on the used lot. Tempted to go drive them all and see how they feel back to back, the idea of a .2 GTS with a tune and exhaust is what has been on my mind. The torque and day to day usefulness could make me eat my words about the 991s.

Already have a track car and like the safety of a box around me, however one of these with a Roush 347ir

I picked up a 2012.5 S in October.
Took it to the track twice, one wet/one dry, to see where it's limits are and had a blast playing with the PDK.

I think the 991.1 when in manual mode, sport plus, and shocks on stiff gives plenty of roughness/raw feel with the benefit of being able to go through 3 or 4 gears before you get too out of hand. Sound at redline is awesome with PSE on.

^thanks, what i was thinking. Since my battery is dying I'll be doing another 6lb. Anti-gravity like I put in my 996t.
I also picked up some black carpet to swap out the grey and since I'll have the seats out and my daughter is too tall to use the back seats I can take it for a drive with a little over 100# out of it.
My 996t has full interior still as I've resisted making it track only as I like driving it regularly on the street, but I did GT3 uprights when I ditched the AWD, put in LSD, 2 way JRZs, etc. I do however have a lexan CUP rear window and solid roof panel in case I decide to go there...

The 18 ways are heavy seats, to get 100lbs you would have to replace them. The rear seats are quite light.

It works great when warm or hot, even better when cold, just doesn't like the rain when on NT-01's with the PSM unplugged at the ABS pump.
Oh Lordy. Is that like over at Montlake and trying to get onto the 520? Lol.

Guys he's just being funny. Even in Seattle with little sunshine we all still have a sense of humor. I hope! Ha ha.

964-993-996 up to the fat pig 991 it's still a PCar.

Man, I'm with you. Maybe I'll go buy the cheapest 991 C2S I can find this summer and strip the hell out of it within an inch of its life and see what we got! Great idea!!
