High flow cats?

High flow cats?
I'm still waiting for my .2 GTS to arrive but would like to install high flow cats soon after. Seems SOUL is the way to go. I've watched/heard a number of videos and though they sound good its really hard to gauge real world experience on a computer. Can anyone with these cats tell me how they sound in reality vs videos posted online? Also, is there any concern over voided warranty with high flow cats?

I listened to many of the videos online before I had the Soul high flow cats installed and I say in general they are pretty close but you would have to hear one in person to answer your question. You can search here and read the numerous threads about cats and what people think about the warranty but I suggest calling your local dealer and ask the Service Manager what their policy is; however, I cannot see how replacing a cat would impact anything else. Again, no need to start another thread here about a topic that has been discussed a lot so search this forum...that is why so many people have read this and not replied. Here is one that is active now: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1136...91-1-long.html

I actually read quite a few posts and found everything I need with regards to performance gains and sound improvement but none of the threads mention warranty. I also wanted to hear feedback from people who’ve heard these cars in person with high flow cars and compared the sound to that of a computer. To me it seems the cars aren’t that loud but again that could be just because I’m listening through speakers. I’ll reach out to the local Porsche dealer and ask about the warranty. Thanks for your feedback.

Yeah, it is really hard to judge the sound in person compared to online clips but if you listen to several of them you can get a general idea. But there are people here that say the Sport Exhaust is too loud and others that think it is way too quiet, like me, so you really have to listen to a car with them in person. The high flow cats do improve the sound and make it deeper and a little louder, especially when you step on it. In regards to the warranty, keep in mind that a dealer would have to prove that the part you installed affected something else and caused it to fail - there are several threads on the topic of aftermarket parts and warranty.

Every dealer is different. We have Porsche dealers that will sell and install them. Some may not. You're doing the smart thing by asking your dealership so there are no surprises.
As far as sound goes, I think you'll be very pleased with the noticeable increase in turbo sound and engine response. I would say there are no draw backs or scenarios where you may think it's too much. It's one of those all around great mods to do. If you have any questions, don't ever hesitate to ask!

Thank you Mike. My concern isn’t so much of the sound being too much but rather not enough. I’ve been reading threads and listening to videos of cars with cat bypass and an beginning to think that may be more to my liking. If my dealer is tuner friendly enough to allow me a tune and cat bypass then that will be my route no doubt. If there’s any pushback I’ll have to rethink the entire setup.

I have the Fabspeed sport cats. They make the exhaust a little louder in quiet mode and louder and deeper in sport. They sound terrific. Fabspeed claims 30hp and a couple lb ft more at peak. When new it seems they spun the turbos up quicker and the car pulls harder at high rpm.. Now, of course, it's the norm. If you, like me, are looking for better (read more) sound than sport cats are the answer. Performance? Maybe a little more. Good luck.

You're welcome! I understand your reasoning. In my experience having a dealer approve going catless and tuning is rare but please let us know! Cat Bypass Pipes sound incredible. Worst case scenario you'll get a small gain in intake sound from doing a BMC filter.

+ In valve closed (non-sport) mode, the exhaust is still very quiet and well mannered. I love this. Quiet when I want it to be quiet and low on the notice band.
+ In valve open mode (sport mode), the Sport Cats provide some really, really interesting enhancements:
+ Spectacular sounds / whistling from the turbo chargers. You cannot believe how subtle but cool these sound. It's amazing.
+ Much deeper/nicer sound on hard acceleration. Nothing that will get you pulled over, but a great/deep/solid sound.
+ Much more interesting burbles on down-shifting.
The only way I can describe it is this. If you have the Targa top down, and you spent extra $$$ on the GTS, there is no better enhancement / bang-for-buck than the Sport Cats. It just brings the car alive a bit more when you want to get on it. And makes the whole experience far more involving and enjoyable.
I had a shop outside Dallas install my Soul Sport Cats but I suspect you could easily install this yourself if you were so inclined.
I hope this helps you.

And it take a few miles before they start sounding the way they should so don't be alarmed when you first start the car and start driving it.

Sport cats is no issue per my local dealer, not sure about catless. But as long as you are "buddy" with the service advisor, everything should be good. To me sport cats only is too quiet, I want more sound.....but that's personal preferences.
