Thinking of doing a bad thing...

I too am very impressed by the Model 3 performance. Test drove one, it was incredibly fast and handled well too. Since you already have one Model 3 in the family, I'd probably wait out.

I hope this isn’t too off topic, and I assure you I’m not saying this to troll...but I find myself thinking about the Tesla Model 3 performance.
A LOT.
My wife has the LR model 3 and honestly? It’s an absolute joy to drive. The power and torque makes my Targa 4S feel so sluggish by comparison.
I was planning to hold out until the Taycan, but I am increasingly concerned it will be a giant Panamera schoolbus which is just too big for me.
Please talk me out of doing something stupid, as I do love my Targa but I am drawn by the many advantages of EVs...and I’m thinking if I am waiting for Porsche to make the car I want, it will be a while.

I'll buy your Targa from you

I did the opposite, sold my Model S P90DL for my 2018 C4S MT. I love driving cars, and no matter how amazing the MS launch and torque felt, I never felt like I was driving her. More like she was driving me.. Could not be happier rowing through the gears, albeit a bit slower, even with my GIAC tune.

So you want a rolling battery with a laptop screen, terrible handling and zero induction/exhaust noises to stir the soul?
Well that's just bat **** crazy but go right ahead.

Tesla is low quality and their future is suspect. I wouldn't do it.
First turn and that Tesla is a road block for your 911.

Neighbors on either side of me have Model 3's. One had issues right after delivery and spent some time in the shop, just 1 week after delivery. Other couldn't drive his several days this winter due to the bitter cold and snow. I've got snows on the C4S and nothing stopped it. Frequently blow past Teslas in the snow and rain. On highways they don't seem to do so well over 85. Forgetabout the twisties. Fit and finish seems poor.
Your money. If its keeping you up, get one. Porsche dealer by us has 1 on lot from a trade-in.

We have a Model 3 dual motor. It's my wife's dd and she loves everything about it. She never complains about her commute anymore. I really like the looks of the car and I take care of it, but have only driven it 6x in about 4 months. Partly because I have an A6 company car and my GTS. The other part is because I am afraid I will like it too much (torque addiction). When I was waiting on my high spec GTS I seriously thought about getting a model 3 performance for myself. Less than half the price, etc... But, the model 3 has its flaws. It's not very well put together with panel gaps, doors that bind, the way the metal was bent on door corners, and other things. The wife doesn't care about that stuff much. The quality of the Porsche is much better, but I guess I paid for that. Now, if I needed a dd for me, then I would seriously consider it as it is a blast to drive on the road. For a weekend or 'special' car it doesnt have those qualities imo.

A Tesla is good for straight line acceleration only however, it’s not engaging at all in fact, i was bored after spending less than 2 days with one. A Porsche on the other hand, is anything but boring.

Although according to this Wiki page P100D is 2nd on the list and my TTS is #10,
the thought of buying a Tesla vs Porsche has never crossed my mind Certain ICE Porsche characteristics would never be met by an EV, including Porsche's own.
And as a DD I love my TTS. Also funny to see some of the Tesla and esp. Model 3 drivers (perhaps as the car is more affordable vs Model S younger folks are behind the wheel) are trying to race with me
I may end up buying an EV one day, but this would be for very different than sport or performance reasons.
