I know you do not have it but with the factory PSE there are no pops & crackles in "Sport +" mode.

An X-pipe will not give you significantly louder sound (maybe a couple of decibels), it just changes it. I didn't like the change in sound because it stopped sounding like a Porsche.

Yup. One Sport+ no pop/crackles. Only sport.
It's a feature on the Sport map but not the Sport+ map.

I'm very happy with my Akrapovic sport cats + exhaust. Love the way my GTS sounds now.

PSE is great (had it on my last 991.2). Like having the option to turn the noise down if necessary. Just looking for alternatives/options before I make a decision. Sideways snow up here so car is parked.

I wanted to hop in here and mention we do offer cat upgrades for the 991.2 Non-PSE models, which do make a nice improvement to the sound (video of catbypass below). I have been wanting to develop a muffler replacement for this particular car as well, however it seems to be a bit uncommon locally. I am arranging for a factory muffler to be sent to us to start playing around with. If anybody has a 991.2 Non-PSE local to the Philly/Willow Grove area (or willing to ship their car to us) to be part of the R&D process, please reach out to me at 484 883 6197. Thanks guys

I have the SpeedTech Switch-X system with their HJS hi-flow cats on my Carrera T (PSE) and it sounds great. The SpeedTech system is essentially a straight pipe as it deletes the muffler, but it does keep the keeps the valves. You can really hear the turbo's spool which is really cool.

I couldn't imagine going to an aftermarket system that has mufflers as my straight pipe system is not that loud. In fact, I wish it were louder. These flat six turbo charged motors are just not that loud.

The cheapest (about $2k installed on mine) and best and first sound upgrade are the cat delete pipes.
But that's not an option if you live in a greenie **** area with annual inspections up the behind of your 991.
If you like the PSE upgrade sound, that might be your best choice, depending on where you live.

I didn't like the stock burbles, they sounded very synthetic and contrived. With my Akra system, however, they sound a lot better. Now I actually like them.
