50K for basically the same car, albeit newer, is not what I would go for. 10K of that is tax and basically its a throwaway.

Keep your car. If you need faster, do a ECU tune and save a bunch and have a more engaging car than the turbo.

Thank you all for your responses.... I really think the sound note is more important to me then the little extra speed. Especially here in Southern California, where it is very hard to drive fast unless it is 4:00 am.

If the sound note trumps all other considerations, congratulations on keeping the .1 GTS and, more importantly, saving $50k!

That is unless you like the sound of the .2.
That would be weird but I've heard stranger things...such as the F80 M3.

The .2 with high-flow cats sounds great to me, and most others as well.

nobody can tell you what you will like best between the 2, nor how much to pay for the difference IF it is the .2 the one you like best...

ME, I wouldn't pay 50k even if I liked the .2 better.

Back of the envelope, however, you shouldn't have to pony up more than 30-35k for the change... but you might have to sell the .1 and not trade it in...

Thanks! It was a sad story but one that wound up with a happy ending! My Sapphire Blue quest became fulfilled at last!

I love the sound of mine. I've had some good sounding cars, and it's right up there with them to my ears.

I just bought my 2016 991.1 GTS cab at its lease end. I would not take the 991.2 GTS and $50,000 for my car. Why? The 3.8 L, 430 hp flat six NA engine is the last and the most powerful of the non-GT naturally aspirated engines. I am getting a GT3T but the GTS is staying in the stable forever. The 991.2 GTS is definitely faster and has other upgrades over the 991.1 GTS but I'll take the NA engine over Apple Car Play, rear axle steering and a few exterior styling tweaks any day.

My car has 21,000 miles. So many opinions, not sure what to do. The tax kills the deal too! Is the performance of the .2 so much better. Is it more off the line speed or freeway passing speed? Also, how can the Turbo engine sound close to as nice as the NA engine. I have driven the regular Turbo before with out being impressed by the exhaust note...Thanks again !

These cars are all about the driving experience. One on-line reviewer stated clearly that the 991.1 GTS may be the best sounding Porsche ever, even better than the GT3 since the sound opens up at a lower rev range and is therefore experienced more often during daily driving. I did extensive test drives on the .2 S and .2 GTS and just found the lack of exhaust note un-engaging. They are fast, and the .2 GTS is faster than my 15, but not by a lot and the throttle response is good, but definately not as good as the .1.
I would love to have a test drive on a .2 with free flow cats, but even if the sound is as good as the .1, I would find it very difficult to part with 50K for a very slight improvement in performance, especially with the 992 on the near horizon.
If the delta was 25K I would have to think hard. Just wondering, with a 25K budget what kind of performance improvements could be achieved on my .1? Any thoughts??
